Two inches thick is the door thickness I have. As I mentioned earlier, I can just barely get the lock mounted, but the tail piece does not penetrate as deeply into the knob as it should. After a few days, I tried to put an August smart lock on the knob side. That particular smart lock has a plastic adapter, but the tail piece is not deep enough to penetrate fully into the plastic adapter, so it split and broke after two Kwikset and August are sending me the replacement parts for a thick door at no charge, and August is also sending me the replacement parts for a thick door. Since I asked about those in another question, I am unable to answer my own question, so for others who may be interested, these are the parts for doors more than 1 inch thick. 75" in height. My door knobs were brand new when I bought them! The boxes were still in the original packaging!
You do get keys with them. I think they are beautiful. I think Hubby installed a piece upside down, so I'm not happy about it. However, I still think this is a great We are glad to have bought this.
I don't see how the bottom can be locked.

All the negative reviews have been taken into consideration, so this will be updated if necessary. I had no problems installing the software at the beginning. There is no need for special tools to adjust the bolt length. order to choose the bolt length for installation, I just compared the lengths of the old hardware. I think the smartkey feature is pretty cool. You only have to reload for a few seconds You can key the deadbolt using the same key as your existing one. As a result of having the exterior of our house painted, I ended up installing a new lockset, and I had to paint parts of the door and drill new holes for the handle. The inside of the handle that uses the thumb lever does not seem to be exceptionally well built. However, the action is so effortless and smooth that it may be just fine. I installed new weatherstripping around the door, so the door closes a bit more snugly now, but it does not cause problems with the latch mechanism. At Amazon, the same lockset is less than half the price of the same lockset at Lowe's.
It has now been five months since jammer was born. For two years I worked for them. I've had the deadbolt for five months, but it jams and can't be opened from the outside with the key, or from the inside.
I was able to dismantle and remove the deadbolt. By taking the lock apart with a screwdriver, I was able to jam it from the inside, but now it's jammed again for the second time in a week. Perhaps the issue with our smart key technology is a result of rekeying this lock in order to match the 4 other doors? In either case, I will have to buy a new deadbolt because I have extended my return window.
The set looks good, but is unreliable at this time on whether it will or won't operate.
The ease of installing Kwikset products as well as the low cost led me to buy this entry set in place of a brass entry set which had been exposed to the sun for In no time the package had arrived and I began to remove the old set to place the new one. It was easy to replace the deadbolt as the first thing I did. As I am replacing the entry mechanism, I have found that the hand grip is not as long as the old one. Since I have a hole in the door which goes through the whole thing, I have an exposed hole. Five sixteenths of an inch is the hole's diameter.
I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss anything about the measurements in Amazon's listing before I sent it back. My first thought was to pack it all up and send it back, but I decided to check the Amazon listing first. However, even though I didn't see any measurements, I decided to keep the unit. The hole is no longer a distraction. I think I have an approach to finish off the install so that everything is done in one step. *We recommend you be careful when you get this unit since it may not be the same length as your old one if you have this style entry handle that is being replaced.
Here's an update! 4 months after using the door handle, the thumbpiece of the handle completely snapped off, having progressively become more and more difficult to use with each use. This product sounded great, so I really wanted to love it. In terms of aesthetics, it was exactly what I was looking for, but the quality was just not there.
As opposed to conventional locks, smartkeys make rekeying easy due to the fact that you do not have to change the thumbler, etc. The rekeying of one of the deadbolts did run into one hiccup, but after a quick search on youtube, I had all the locks rekeyed in 10 minutes. Besides looking great and operating well, these are also very strong. In comparison with a hardware store, Amazon offers these for half the price. In case your door is thick or wide, the kit includes two sets of machine screws in different lengths. My doors were no problem to install several of these on. By reading the instructions or watching a video, I'm sure anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver could figure out how to install them You can easily use the smartkey feature to video online, though it can be tricky if you're not careful. Seeing how simple it is once you see a video of someone rekeying one will make it a breeze once you realize how easy The pros include This product looks great, operates smoothly, is easy to install, and has Smartkey functionality that simplifies rekeying. I only have one concern I cannot think of any to mention.
With the help of a Kwikset keypad, I replaced the deadbolt on my parents' house. Kwikset's warranty is one of the best in the business. I would recommend using it for 10 or 20 years. It can be replaced if the finish scratches off or the mechanical parts fail (but not the electronic parts if it's a keypad). In that case, the model line might be retired and you might get something more recent, but the size and shape might be Sometimes, you will have to repaint the room afterward. The warranty is excellent once again.
On this morning, the inside of the lock (with the lever) would not open. It couldn't move more than 1/4 inch because the bolt inside was frozen. My first attempt to open the facings was to disassemble it and use a screwdriver. I could not get it to move. They have no one that can explain these locks, and the only 'help' Kwikset would provide is a locksmith. They have no one you can talk to who.
These are the doors I did for the exterior. I bought three of them. There is nothing wrong with the lockset, but the handle is In general, all three of them worked well for 18 months, but slowly they started to deteriorate gradually. Upon fully retracting the cylinder, some of the rotating internals were worn enough to cause it not to retract fully. They were a safety concern near the end of their life (before I switched to another brand) as it took several attempts, considerable hand strength, and holding your tongue in just the right way to open them.
A buyer should beware, as they will probably only last for a few years. Definitely not what I would have expected from Kwikset, but it still stands.
