The door would not fit in my door as most of the poor reviews mention. If the bolt is not centered or does not fit in a standard circular hole, then the problem exists. To install the lock, my contractor would have had to cut into the dead bolt area. A future lock change would be impossible if this is done, which could void the warranty on the door. There's no company that makes deadbolts that don't fit standard doors! This is an absolutely beautiful but pointless piece of art.

With Kwikset you know you will have a reliable lock. I was very happy with the job this product did, it looked great on my front door, and I liked the way it locked The only thing I dislike about this apartment is the deadbolt knob on the inside. I would expect something at this price and quality to have a solid 45 degree turn radius, but the deadbolt has a 60 degree turn radius and does not.

It was not easy for me to install because I was tired. Save yourself some headaches and let me walk you through it. The latch has a shaft that is centered and low on the outer surface. It differs from the normal way doors go, so it is not aligned with the way they should. Since the inside piece (the handle) provides the arm with a fixed point, it was decided to do so. See, it may sound confusing, but just align the outside piece with the bolt, and you will see that they do not line up! The other thing to keep in mind is that the bolt's curve end needs to be down (see the installation). Else the unit will be unable.
