I had been using my Clopay garage door dummy for a long time until I got a new one. Handle on the door is keyed. The inner door handle is not drilled in order for it to be easily attached, so I gave it four stars. With a high speed bit, it is nearly impossible to drill with a hand held electric drill. Because of this, it was easy for me. I have a drill press on my bench that works well. As a result, I placed the inner handle on the drill platform and used a pair of C-clamps to stabilize the handle Drilling is made much easier by the use of clamps that firmly hold the drill in place. In a few minutes I had drilled all the way through both sides in a straight line with a few drops of penetrating oil. Fortunately I had some Cotter pins, so I used one to attach the newly drilled inner handle to the pre-drilled handle. The handle shaft is square and drilled. My original handle hardware was crumbling after only forty or fifty years of use. This replacement hardware worked perfectly and now I have successfully completed this project. I would warn purchasers of this product to consider how to drill the inner door handle before making a purchase. If you use super glue, you might be able to hold it onto the square shank without it falling Drilling would be unnecessary in that case. It took just a year after I opened my other garage door that this outside collar on this handle broke. I've used this handle for opening the garage door for 20 years. Now that I've purchased the hardware as well as the handles, I can The only parts I used were the ones for my original Clopay lock handle because I wanted to keep the branding and the look of that. Since the new outside collar is a little taller off the door than the old one, I not only had to use the indoor handle so the pin holes would align, but I also had to pound in the pin on the outside handle because of the smaller inside hole on the outside collar. This project isn't difficult, but finding a small enough and strong enough tool to fit in the pin handle hole proved challenging for me until I came across a tiny broken drill bit in my tool box that worked. In any case, if you just want to replace the collar like I did, you only need a hammer and screwdriver (flat or Phillips).
