Uh, um, how would this person get a family member to unlock their cell phone while the phone is inside (aside from trying to find a neighbor who might have a phone it might not be possible)? It is a horrible security risk to leave an Alexa-enabled device near (close enough to) an entryway door to be used for the door lock. A key could be used by anyone to open In general, it would be much better to hide the key in an area somewhat away from the entryway. The entry is NOT close to it, and it isn't easy to locate. It would also be possible to obtain a keyless entry system for one of the keypads, as suggested by others.
As of today, I have one on my outside gate, and it has lasted through one day of rain without any issues.
You can paint anything with the right primer, that's the simple answer. You could probably paint this if the paint doesn't affect the thumb mechanism, but I don't see why not. As a point of emphasis, the thumb hold may be subject to a lot of wear & tear Be aware that the paint may not last. *If you are considering a (separate) keypad, this would be a much more challenging
There is no need to wire the gateway to the lock, as it is zigbee and not bluetooth as the other person claims. The gateway can be up to 50 feet away from the lock and still There is not a hardwire connection between the router and gateway.

On a work call in the same room, it took my Girlfriend and I approximately 30 minutes. With my power drill out of commission, I was forced to do everything by hand. Through the app, the pace was quick and the steepness continued the whole way. The problem has been occurring for a few days now and the device is locking 100% of the time. It is also unlocking 100% of the time. It will be interesting to see if it changes. I'll be watching it. Wyze is the best! Way to go! In this case, the lock does not work (updated 7/17/2020). The install worked for a couple of days before an update fixed the problem, but now it only works for a day at most. I have removed it from the application and re-added it, but it doesn't work for very long after that. I suggest you keep away from it, at least for the moment.
Getting a smart lock specifically for my front door has always been on my wish list. It was a factor that made me hesitant because I assumed it would be challenging. A dog sitter was hired for a vacation that we would soon be taking. This forced me to make a decision. When I found this lock on the Internet, one of the biggest features talked about was how easy it was to install, as well as the price with which it came in. My trigger finger was pulled, so I shot. From the time I unpacked to testing, this look took me a total of 20 minutes to install. Everything I read about its ease of installation was true. Using the app was super simple, the pictures accompany each step as you install. In the end, I found that the lock I wanted was perfect. When my teenaged daughter lost the key twice she was not able to use the front door we had to text her and open our garage remotely so she could get inside, and if she entered the house late at night we had to manually let her in or leave the front door unlocked. As an added benefit, the door automatically locks after you come in! Thanks to the app, I am allowed to share with anyone I choose, and so she's able to come and go as she pleases! It is the perfect feature to give you complete peace of mind! It is a completely amazing lock, I highly recommend it. The only thing I would have liked to have changed is the lock itself. It was easy to install and set up the wireless network. The final calibration (setup) did not allow me to go any further. There was a problem with Wyze locks that opened and closed, but didn't go all the way. Submitted a ticket on Friday and have not received a reply until Tuesday with a list of things I should try that I have already tried. The person said they were really busy, so they couldn't respond as quickly as they'd hoped. If none of the things they prescribed for me worked, I guess it would mean I would have to wait until next week to find out what I needed to do. It is not worth the money if it does not work right out of the box and there is no way for me to reach you other than via email. As far as money is concerned, I had to pay for the return and will get the refund once Wyze gets the product. Not sure why UPS didn't offer the same return option as UPS. As I returned the article to a UPS store, the lady there said that I'd need to contact Prime support and they would send me a free return label if I was an Amazon Prime member (I am). Because I am a Prime member, I think that should have already been the case. As a result, now that I don't get things as fast as I used to, I am realizing that I don't really need things fast. There is no need to change my current routine since I can go to the store and get whatever I need quickly and wait for items I need in the future. Hence, I will terminate my Prime membership when the time comes.
The Auto Unlock feature. It only worked the first time I tested it. I tried it four or five times before it finally worked. In the event that my phone went to sleep when I left, there would be no way to use it. It was hard to get assistance from Wyze tech support. Keeping my phone awake when leaving the house is a recommendation I got from someone. In order to drain the battery on my phone, I’m supposed to leave it awake while I'm away for 2 hours A simple auto-tune should not take more than 3 hours What is unlocwork? It was still disappointing to have to pay $13, but I was able to get a refund. Due to the fact that I did not purchase the lock directly from Wyze, I had to pay 60 dollars in return postage. My request for reimbursement has been denied.
There's a half-time delay between opening and locking this lock. It's not accurate to figure out if the door is takes a very long time for it to connect to the Internet Please wait until the next version of the software is released or until the software is fixed.
In a nutshell, The lock is easy to install and costs a fraction of what August locks do. This device worked straight out of the box without the need for a hub. Works great and is made of solid metal. This sends out notifications when the door is open or closed, when the lock is locked, or whether it is unlocked. There is a setting for scheduling the door to unlock and lock at a certain time. It is possible to use geo fencing for unlocking as well, but I have not The door can be set up to lock behind you as well, although we turned off this feature since our children were around. If you are using Alexa, you will need to enter a code to unlock. When you are done for the evening, it is nice to tie it into an Alexa routine. You start to hear it blaring if you leave the door open. Moreover, it comes with a 'hub' plug that you simply plug into the nearest outlet. Approximately the same as the other exterior doors in the house, and will likely be added to the others.
