Questions & Answers

Is there an autolock feature on this lock?

You have to manually turn it, which is why I bought this unit in the first place. Similar units that "auto-repair" in my experience are similar units that "auto-repair" in my experience When the "bolt" is not perfectly lined up, the "lock" may not set correctly. We had humidity issues with our door, and the "auto" feature would jam unless you "jiggled" it. Furthermore, the "auto" lock units deplete the battery much more quickly.

Do the numbers on the keys that you use frequently (for PIN entry) wear out? )Can someone tell which keys are pressed the most frequently after repeated use?

Because numbers can be repeated, even if the four most commonly used keys could be identified, there would still be 256 possible combinations. I've had one of these for six years, and while the numbers haven't worn out, the buttons that get pressed the most are a little dirtier than the ones that don't. They aren't filthy, but they do have some discoloration. However, because my wife and family have their own codes, eight of the ten buttons are used at some point. Despite this, the keys are still in good condition, and the frequently used button is only slightly discolored.

Is there a way to see the keypad in the dark - Is it possible that the light comes from somewhere other than the reflected light?

In the dark, no one can see the keyboard. Before the keyboard lights up, you must press a button on the pad. Before entering a code, we first press any key and then enter.

I read somewhere that rain can cause this unit to "fry," is that correct?

On different doors, I have two of these as well as one of the touchpad deadbolts. The two similar devices have been in place for about two years, and the touchpad for about three. One of them (this model) is directly exposed to the elements on a shed, while the other two have eaves (very small overhangs) above them. I'm replacing the one that's directly exposed to the elements right now, but the other two are still working fine. br>br>The overhangs are small, but they make the difference between getting soaked every time it rains and only getting rained on once in a while. So, while rain does not "fry" this product, direct exposure to the elements will almost certainly reduce its lifespan. On the other hand, it doesn't take much to alleviate this issue (for example, a 12-inch overhang with an 8-inch overhang). a height of ten feet above the door) In addition, my "reduced" lifespan was still around two years. It was better than I had anticipated, despite the fact that it was completely exposed.

THIS REVIEW SHOULD BE READ - NEW MODELS ARE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY

Revised: 2/9/21br>I recently reduced the number of stars from two to one. br>In the last four weeks, we've had three of these fail. The spinning deadbolt knob does not always catch, which is a problem.
- br>br>I work as a real estate agent. This model lock is one of my favorites, and I have 20 of them. I'm in charge of a few other properties that number in the tens of thousands of 15 more. These used to be the gold standard, but they're no longer worth their weight in paper, and Schlage (Allegion - ) has taken their place. It is well known by the parent company. br>br>I recently replaced two that had lasted four years. 5 years - That life expectancy is more than adequate for me. Some of the replacements lasted less than four weeks, and one of them didn't work right away. In fact, I'm averaging around a 20 50% fail rate on all new BE365's - There are eight people in the sample. The electronics on the duds are still functional, but the deadbolt will spin and never actually catch the lock to unlock it. It just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning and br>br>Previously, Schlage's customer service was excellent. notch. As a result, I dialed their number. I inquired as to what had changed - Is it better to redesign or build a new manufacturing facility? Isn't it possible to work together to solve this problem? I really liked their product and would like to see them succeed. They didn't want to tell me anything, so I didn't. But the CS Rep 100% knew that Schlage doesn't want to admit that there is a huge problem that he doesn't want to admit that there is a huge problem that% They agreed to send me replacement locks for three of them (I had already returned the fourth to Home Depot). To help protect against the cold, it was suggested that a piece of felt be installed behind the lock. What? Really? I'm in the deep south of the United States. It isn't as cold as it appears - And, if they're aware of the problem, why aren't they supplying the felt pieces? br>br>No replacements arrived after two weeks. I emailed Schlage, and they responded that I needed to re-register within 24 hours. Send the serial codes (which you've already done and they acknowledged receipt of) and any other information you have. Wow. I've already put in a lot of time on it, not to mention the client lock-in. I've spent $100s, if not $1,000s on lockouts, and the locks are still broken. br>br>In conclusion, what used to be a 5-star rating is now a 4-star rating. The star product has been upgraded to a one-star product. What was once a 5-star product is now a 4-star product. Customer service is now rated as one of the best in the industry. *There are two locksmiths and a ball in this scenario
5/5

This thing was too tough for a peen hammer to get through. That's all there is to it. I've never been so enraged by a lock in my life, and yet here I am, buying another one. Why? I'm glad you inquired. We bought our first Schlage keypad deadbolt for our MIL suite door three years ago, and we liked it so much that we bought two more for our other exterior doors. It's amazing how much easier life becomes when you don't have to worry about losing or misplacing your keys. We always changed the batteries on New Year's Day, just to be safe, and the override keys were kept in a secure location, or so I thought. You can probably figure out where this is going. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes The battery died after I accessed the suite to collect the linens, and I was locked out in the pouring rain with guests due in five hours. I'd locked the door behind me and gone downstairs to load the washer when I returned, only to find a red blinking light and the realization that I was out of luck. But there was no problem because I knew where the key was! Except the key was nowhere to be found, and my husband had just gotten on a plane. Did I mention it was raining cats and dogs? br>br>So, after a few minutes of panic and rummaging through every drawer in the house, I dialed a locksmith. When he arrived, I felt instantly calmer, but he was unable to pick it up or bump it. He tried for 45 minutes in the pouring rain before calling for backup, bless his heart. She was unable to complete the task as well. They weren't able to pick it up or bump it. They were powerless to intervene. Even with the key, you have to do some Key Gymnastics to engage the bolt, which was impossible to do with the picks, even with three sets of human hands trying to hold the various bits at the same time. She offered to return and drill the keyhole part, but expressed concern that all she'd accomplish would be the lock's destruction rather than unlocking it. They both left after she apologized profusely. She gave me the phone number of "a safecracker" she knew (I have no idea and didn't ask). ) but, alas, the call was lost in the ether. Who knows, he could have been robbing banks. br>br>I was becoming increasingly frantic after making a half-dozen phone calls to locksmiths all over town. By this time, my husband's plane had landed, and he had no idea where the key was hidden. He did, however, call a friend who had some power tools and was gracious enough to come to my rescue. We decided to begin violently (since I was so enraged at the time) by attempting to beat the damned thing off with a ball-and-chain. peen hammer is a hammer that is used to make small holes in Why isn't it working? Because that damned thumbturn keeps spinning and spinning. When you think about it, it's a pretty clever design. Regardless, he got in by removing the door trim and sawing through the bolt with a freakin' 6" grinder blade, which took a long time. Then he swapped it out for a cheap Kwikset he had on hand. It was an excruciatingly stressful day that I will never forget. br>br>However, knowing how difficult it would be to break into the house through the doors made me sleep a whole lot better! br>br>As a result, I'm out shopping for a new one. Was it because the lock didn't seem to give me enough notice about the battery that I was irritated? Without a doubt. But knowing how much of a pain it was to get through that lock makes me feel a lot safer. Our neighborhood burglars aren't up for such a challenge. They are lacking in motivation. br>br>I highly recommend this product, but only if you purchase top-of-the-line products. the- batteries in a line Don't scrimp on them, and don't lose the key, or you'll be in need of some heavy artillery.

Failure to lock or unlock is not an option! Before you buy, take a look at the other bad reviews
3/5

We liked this lock so much that we installed two of them in our house while they were still functional. Both have failed to engage in the lock or unlocking of the house in less than two years. It's a long shot to have two locks fail in the same time frame. I came here to see if anyone else was seeing what I was seeing, and to my surprise, there were quite a few! After two years, I'm curious how many people never write a review. Many of the positive reviews come from new owners, and I believe Schlage intends for them to break down so that we can buy another. What are your options, in other words? go with someone else and replace all of your locks? Is it necessary to rekey every single lock? Do you have any extra keys? Purchase another that will break down and leave me or, worse, my children in the cold. I think we'll have to stick with schlage dump em's poor quality. Schlage's big idea is to make products that fail and leave their customers out in the rain.

***If you're having trouble with "TURN-ON," The "LOCK" feature is a feature that allows you to lock your computer
5/5

***. This feature allows you to lock the door without entering a code on your way out by simply pressing the Schlage button. br>When installing your lock, pay special attention to step 6 of the guide (page 2). If it's not facing the right way, TURN-AROUND. The LOCK option will be disabled. I emailed and phoned Schlage several times, and they told me that if the TURN-ON light does not come on after a factory reset, the problem is with the TURN-ON light. The LOCK feature was not working, the unit was defective, and it needed to be returned. When I disassembled the lock, I discovered a small "Point Down!" sign. "While the unit was in the unlock position, something was rotated 90 degrees, which is incorrect. " When it's in the unlock position, it should be oriented as shown in the diagram. Anyone having issues with the TURN-OFF? Before returning the unit, check the LOCK feature. br>br>Here's a link to the Schlage user manual [. ]br>By the way, this is an excellent unit. This step should be added to the troubleshooting section of the guide by Schlage.
