Questions & Answers

Is it the spring-loaded version?

They're spring-loaded, to be sure. They are not, however, "self-contained." closing. The hinge's spring will pull the door closed as it gets within an inch or two of the cabinet, but not as slowly as the slow auto-closing mechanism. hinges that close

What is the total number of packs in a box?

Two.

I'm trying to replace my vanity hinges, but I'm not sure how to tell if they're 3/8" or 1/2". Isn't there a number on the hinge anywhere?

To figure out what size was needed, I measured the thickness of my cabinet door. The 1/2 inch is almost certainly required. The 3/8-inch thickness is appropriate for a thin door. Despite the fact that the description says each, these hinges come in pairs.

I'll need 46 hinges in total. I can only order 5 pairs at a time; is there any way for me to order all 46 at once?

It all depends on who you're placing your order with. If Midwest Cabinet allows it, you should be able to add them to the cart; if it only allows 5, add those to the cart, then go back to the cart and adjust the quantity.

Not in the same way that the originals were
3/5

I ordered one pair (burnished brass) to replace some worn-out originals from the 1980s. I ordered one pair as a trial/sample after reading mixed reviews, and I'm glad I did before purchasing 20 more. There are differences, and the issue with hinges is that they must be millimetre perfect; otherwise, errors can be magnified. br>br>First, the clamp system that clamps onto the door, on the original, it closes up pretty tight, leaving about 1mm, but on the new ones, it won't close up enough, leaving about 3mm, which is enough to prevent it from clamping to the door no matter how hard I tighten it. I've attached a photo to show you what I'm talking about; the original is on the lower right. The second issue, as mentioned by others, is that one of the metal backing plates/clamps is bent. Third, the screws have a hard time getting started in the threads; you must be very careful not to cross thread them; I didn't cross thread and they eventually worked, but they were still sloppy. br>br>The last photo is of the original, complete with logo and patent number. I'm glad I didn't buy a bunch of them; yes, I can probably modify/tweak these to make them work, but I shouldn't have to.

There are numerous flaws
3/5

I had been unable to locate the various types of Amerock hinges anywhere other than Amazon, and I am delighted to have discovered them. There are three kinds of hinges on my kitchen cabinets. All of the hinges on my kitchen cabinets have been replaced, and they were incredibly easy to replace. These were made of bronze that had been oiled. I then decided to order four packages of satin nickel hinges to replace the hinges on a bathroom cabinet, totaling eight hinges. A number of the hinges were bent, and the screws were ineffective. These screws also appeared to be softer than the oiled bronze ones. I was able to get 7 of the hinges to work with some effort, but one was so badly damaged that I will have to order another package and hope for the best; I'm not sure why these were in such bad shape while the others were perfect.

Is it possible to make a different decision? You're stuck if your cabinet doors were designed to fit these double demountable hinges
3/5

Last year, I purchased a large quantity of them to replace my old rusted-looking brass-colored originals (which, after 23 years of use, were still functional) with new satin finishes throughout my home. In the last six months, I've replaced a couple of these new hinges. They bind and make a noise, preventing them from closing completely on their own. One of the two new hinges in the two-pack may or may not work. It's a good hinge idea, but the quality control is terrible. br>December 2019: I need to replace the worn out hinges once more!.

It's extremely difficult to come across
5/5

What a fascinating hinge! I couldn't find anything similar locally, but Amazon had exactly what I needed. It worked great after I used the Dremel to make a small modification. The current model includes a captive screw that I had to remove in order to use the original screw holes for mounting. It'll suffice until we're able to replace all of the kitchen cabinets with something more contemporary.

On the market, the best hinges
5/5

The cabinet maker installed these hinges on our cabinets more than 28 years ago. We're doing a total renovation and stripping the cabinets down to their bare wood. The old hinges are being repurposed, cleaned, and repainted. WE needed to replace a few of the older ones that had been abused by our then-toddler and his cousins. The new ones are identical to the old ones! We've used a lot of hinges, and these are by far the best.

They appear to be very nice, but they are quite costly
5/5

To test them out, we ordered a small set. They appear to be fantastic. They're a perfect match for our new oil-based paint. Cabinet pulls by Koofizo in rubbed bronze. They're in perfect condition, but. We spent around $150 on the cabinet pulls, and we'd have to spend another $300 on matching hinges. Ouch. We decided to return them after seeing how nice they looked (which was fantastic). We'll either live with our old brass hinges for the money or try a different approach- chemically darkening them or painting them.

There is no other option - regrettably
3/5

Stupidity at its finest. I purchased approximately 54 of these to replace the hinges on our cabinet doors. These things have terrible quality control, which makes installing them a nightmare. A defect was found in nearly one out of every four hinges, posing a serious problem. The screws, in particular, are of poor quality and are easily stripped out. Many of the hinges' "back plates" (the black part) were bent, causing the cabinet doors to not close completely or sit flush. I currently have one of these stripped out on my cabinet that will not tighten to the door and cannot be removed, and I will most likely have to physically damage my cabinets to remove it because traditional screw extraction techniques have failed. At this point, I'm probably just going to fill in all of my pre-existing information. Because Amerock is the only brand that makes double demountable hinges, I routed slots with woody putty and used regular hinges.

These hinges are of excellent quality
5/5

These are exact replacements for the worn-out hinges on my kitchen cabinets. They're nickel-plated and extremely well-made. made. They're designed to be simple to replace; I'd estimate it takes about a minute per unit to do so. My cabinet doors no longer squeak and close completely with very little effort; these were not available locally, despite my best efforts. The screws are a little soft, but I didn't have any issues because I used a good 2 Phillips screwdriver. Tighten the screws by hand rather than using a power drill.
