Yes. It comes with a gasket that seals the gap between the door and the wall.
In September of 2014, I placed an order for this weather-resistant cover. The photo on Amazon's website at the time did not show "Bell" on the white cover in raised letters. However, when I received the cover, it DID have "Bell" cast in raised letters on the front. I didn't mind because I was going to use the cover indoors. Note: The manufacturer's name "redodot," I believe cast on the cover, as well as "UL" stamps, etc., are also visible on the weatherproof covers I have on the house exterior, whereas this Bell cover only has the name visible. Building codes such as the UL and others Compliance stamps are hidden beneath the cover, on the frame itself, and only visible when the cover is lifted.
It does not remain open on its own.

In terms of sturdiness, this cover is excellent. The top screw that holds it on can be accessed while the cover is closed, allowing you to partially remove it. DUH! Second, the rounded bottom of the cover blocks the padlock holes, allowing only the smallest padlocks to fit inside. I ground some metal away with my Dremel so that I could use a padlock with a full hole diameter. The designer made a poor decision. Don't be concerned with the appearance; instead, be concerned with the functionality.
Maybe you already knew, but I've struggled for years with these weatherproof covers, trying to keep the door open and get those tiny screws to go in. I recently discovered that the doors are held in place by clip springs, which you can compress by pushing hard on the door while it is partially closed, but the door still comes off. It's now simple to put the door up and take it down again. BUT, if there are two springs, stick one end of the door in first to hold the first, and then use a tiny screw driver to hold the second until you trap it and compress it. If the instructions don't specify it, it's because replacing the door in the vertical position requires some creativity.
The white went better with our outdoor trim, and the metal and finish quality was better than expected for the price. Our outdoor outlets used to get wet and not work until the water dried up, but this is a great solution, and the included foam is thick and good quality, so the installation was tight to keep any water out. We found that using the same main two screws to hold both the outlet and this new white weatherproof outlet cover in our existing junction boxes was the easiest way to install it. Thank you for producing such a high-quality item!.
One of the best weatherproof boxes and covers on the market is the Hubbell brand Bell cover. Two foam inserts are included, one for the hinged door and one for behind the face plate. I've bought some that only have one or are very flimsy, and this brand is a thick foam gasket. When Hubbell electrical products become available, I will always purchase them.
Metal low-profile cover with a good locking mechanism. Paint finish is excellent, as is the shape and fit. It is simple to put together. The inside cover and around the inside metal frame have a light weather seal, but the top screw hole on the outlet frame is exposed and must be weatherized with silicon for open outdoor use. When not in use, the cover is held closed by a strong spring. For covered patios and external house utility outlets, I've used outdoor with locks.
Eh. It had to be modified in order to be installed. It comes with machine screws with a round head, but I needed to use the screw holes provided outside the outlet cutout in my case. Then, because the provided divots were powder coated shut, I had to drill them out. Guess what happens when you use RH screws? The metal watertight door does not close properly. To install it, I had to dig through my toolbox for four flat head 8/32 machine bolts. To say the least, it's infuriating. Perhaps include only flat-headed bolts in the kit, since the regular holes are also countersunk? Too easy.
A small hole near the top is one flaw. This should be protected with a plastic cap. To keep it in place, I used some silicone and a piece of rubber I found in a can of odds and ends.
a 30 volt outlet mounted on the wall! Coverage for outdoor electrical outlets is available in a wide range of options. I bought it to connect my house to a portable generator from the outside. It has a beautiful finish and appears to be of high quality. During installation, you should most likely have some assistance, but nothing extraordinary. Adapters for different outlet sizes should be brought with you. I used it with a NEMA L14-compliant power supply in my case. 30P. Perfect!.
