Questions & Answers

Is that right? We use the mesh first and then we ?

With a brush, you can apply the waterproofing material to this mesh.

Is it necessary to use the laticrete hydro barrier and waterproofing membrane fabric prior to thinset, or is one of them sufficient?

Laticrete hydroban can be applied all over the place after installing concrete boards. There is no limit to how high you can go. Corners and edges should be cleaned with a brush The walls and ceilings should be covered with a thin nap roller You will need the membrane if your gaps are larger than an 1/8" wide. Fill and drain the reservoirs caused by the hydro ban The gap must be up to 1/8" to be water-proof. You will receive 100% waterproof protection with two coats. Once the thinset has dried, you will glue the tiles down using thinset.

Is there a way to mask the blue color through a solid surface tub surround that's white? Am I able to use a white primer paint?

The fabric must be painted with either AquaDefense or Red Guard if you will use it to bridge the seams of your cement board or other suitable wet area backer board. I'm not sure what you mean by "will the blue color show through"? To find out more, see the manufacturers' instructions. The membrane fabric is completely white.

How do I seal the Durock seams? Do I use this product on top of cement mesh and mortar, or would this product be sufficient on its own?

In the process of taping Durarock, use special cement board tape and modified mortar, which leaves an indentation. Using redgard between coats of fabric on all seams and corners of the fabric is the best way to protect your fabric from water damage.

The KBRS fiberglass cloth is great for use with Redgard systems to waterproof a shower
5/5

I got it directly from KBRS. Previously I had bought their cloth (in fact I don't know which brand they sell, they won't tell that), but this cloth appears even more promising. I say that Laticrete is not the best, but it is a uniform product and works very well when combined with RedGard. I get a nice feel of strength and impermeability when I create a barrier using fiberglass cloth and RedGard. It is not the case with RedGard alone. This is the attached photo which shows my application of covering the Wonderboard joints with tape and all the screws. I was able to cover the Wonderboard with RedGard alone after this point.

Designed to work with Red Guard, this tape has a wide width, which is perfect In order to reach the bathtub and baseboards only an inch high, I cut the strips in half
5/5

Red Guard worked great for this. Work quickly so you don't over-dry it. Then lay fabric over the red guard, putty knife it flat in corners, then brush on more red guard. It only took me an hour to finish the first coat, including cutting the fabric, and then I did the second with no problems. Those are the kinds of things we can take for granted.

FIBERGLAS is a cloth made of glass
4/5

I haven't much else With a low mil count it is a fiberglass fabric. As a named brand, Laticrete is reliable. I have heard of the generic brand being prone to crease and not being able to stay put even after applying waterproof membrane to it. Application of this product correctly leads to the product behaving as it should. As part of my renovation of our guest bath, I am using AquaDefense from Mapei.

I found this product to be too thick to fit in close corners, but the product itself is excellent
3/5

It works well with RedGard due to its thickness. However, unlike another fiberglass waterproofing fabric I used, this product does not perform as precisely in corners as I would like. In addition, Tile Master Georgia's product requires more product to cover the area than the type offered In the event that I was working on a project that didn't have a lot of inward and outward corners in close proximity to one another, I would definitely consider purchasing this product again since it is cheaper than the other type.

In order to seal a tiled shower membrane with liquid, this item is mandatory
5/5

You must use this when sealing seams in your shower backerboard, especially those at the nitches and the As far as application of the redguard membrane (liquid) is concerned, I used a paintbrush. Prior to laying the first layer of liquid membrane over which this fabric is supposed to adhere, make sure the fabric is cut to the size you need. After that, apply a second coat of membrane to the fabric to set it. It is possible to apply a second and third coat within a few hours. This material was fundamental to the application of the liquid membrane in my shower, and I am assured that it is completely sealed.

It is a great product, I would The product is very well made and well respected
5/5

I utilized it in my shower conversion project. To cut it, you will need a razor knife or similar tool. With my Mapei Aquadefense roll on waterproofing solution, it appeared to be effective. The best part is that it isn't so thick that you have to fold it in corners so you don't have to get too messy with cutting the fabric.

Restoring the floor of a shower with this product is a great idea
5/5

Gaps exceeding 1/8" were present in some of the components. Using the fabric with Laticrete hydroban I was able to achieve the desired results Everything was fixed when it was installed. The bends & bends It's easy to mold and easy to clean Hydro ban in conjunction with this works very well. It is totally water resistant & durable A span spans gaps and a span spans gaps and A stress point should be identified after tile installation to prevent cracks from forming.

Cheaper options aren't as good as the better ones
5/5

It's been several years since I used the Laticrete membrane and I never used it in a shower. In addition to many other reviews, I also found this to be thicker, but applying it was not an issue. When overcoating, it laid flat instead of bunching up despite the ease of application. As long as there is fabric in the areas without elevation rise, it will not be a problem. You can apply the mastic correctly if you do it correctly.
