Questions & Answers

Can we expect to cover 50sqft with more than one coat of paint? Despite having 50 square feet to decorate, I have read that you need to coat several times. How much ga will I need for this or do I need more?

It was about the same size as my bathroom and I used almost the entire tub to apply two full coats, one of which was on the thicker side, with three coats overall All joints need 4 coats of paint. The amount I used was pretty ideal, but I was not coating a shower floor or anything like that, just putting a barrier between a tile floor heat mat and the floor tiles in my My best guess would be that it was 100% waterproof when I was finished. As long as I didn't get zapped by the floor heating system after getting out of the shower, I figured it was a cheap insurance policy. It may be overkill, but it's how I do things.

If I use hydro barrier instead of durock in a shower, can I replace it with hydro barrier?

In addition to Durock, USG has a liquid waterproofing called Durock Brand liquid applied waterproofing that you may use instead of Laticrete.

In the reviews, I read that this product will not stick to Hardibacker board. Is this true?

It didn't stick to cement board as well as it did to cement board. I can only conclude that it was because backer board sucked out water quickly.
I think the product might work better if the first coat is diluted so that it acts as a primer base and then a regular coat can be applied I would recommend calling the company and finding out what their recommendations are.

The hydroban under the underside will be damaged by mastic remover? To protect my first coat, I plan to recoat, but need to make sure the second layer is not contaminated by the first. ?

Regardless of what you think, I think that it might damage your judo ac*br>You'll know once you remove the mastic*br>Good luck to you.

Hydro Ban Laticrete
4/5

I had no trouble laying down the Laticrete. My emails to Laticrete were handled by its customer support team in a timely and professional manner. A unique feature of the product is that it does not have a power button. Unless it is covered, it can remain on the wall for only 30 days. In order to install the tiles, you must do this within 30 days, or the tiles will oxidize and crumble. The fact that you knew that is unknown to me. After I helped my daughter move 1200 miles away, I had to cover it with a thin coat of thiset so it would not oxidize. In three weeks I was gone from home, so I had to do it.

It is very easy to use
5/5

My basement is going to be home to a 3x4x8 shower. This pre-cast Laticrete product worked well for me These tiles can be installed directly onto either the shower pan or curb (which is made from dense foam), as well as the

You can use this stuff without any issue. A paint pan can be placed in the center. If you want a thick paint, start with the corners and use a brush for the rest of the area. It goes on like paint and goes on thick. It doesn't even need stirring! Applying this product couldn't be easier. To do my shower, I used slightly more than 1 gallon of water. You need to paint it twice, pretty thickly. They already have pre-painted floors, curbs, and wall inserts, so I did not need to paint them In this case, I sealed the floor as much as possible, but I applied a coat anyway to fix any nicks. On the first coat, there are still places where you can see through. It really dried to a very uniform setup by the end of the 2nd coat (which I did 2 hours later). It's hard to imagine using some of the other products out there based on their prices and ease of use. Simple to use, all you need to do is use it!.

The Hydroban app is hugely popular with me
5/5

Fluid applied waterproofing is wonderful because it allows you to build up a seamless layer of material that will prevent water from penetrating. It is a wonderful material to use for flooring, walls, showers, and tub decks, because it will seamlessly attach to any surface. Even though it is heavy and thick, it is one of the easiest products to brush and roll off tile board and mortar surfaces. Make sure you apply the compound correctly, and you will never have a leak. You will never regret it.

I love it
5/5

I am amazed by this stuff. Two gallons of waterproofing liquid were used to waterproof up to the ceiling of my tub. It is made of tile and wood Because the new one I constructed was going to be bulletproof, I had to remove the old one. Hydro Ban has the advantage of stopping any water that gets behind the tiles before it reaches the cement board. This can be of great advantage in a heavily-trafficked area. The shower gets used every day without a lot of time to dry out. Refuses the musty smell that can result when constant water is present in the shower. There was something I liked especially about how it bonds to the plumbing and the A continuous waterproof barrier continues all the way down the walls and onto the deck of the tub. I was able to easily waterproof the stub out for the tub spout. Reinforce the corners, between the cement board and tub, and at the ends of the tub with the reinforcing fabric for best results. Even though Laticrete says Hydro Ban is capable of filling gaps up to 1/8", it is relatively inexpensive insurance against leaks now and really strengthens the waterproofing job over time.

There is no reason why Red Guard is better, but I can say that while it appears to dry quickly, I waited four hours after the last coat seemed dry before doing the leak test (the documentation says two hours) and the material bubbled slightly
5/5

In reality, set tile on a dry surface can still feel tacky after a few days even if it feels dry and tack free to your hand.

So allow the tile to sit for much longer than the directions direct.

I am so impressed with this product
5/5

We installed this stuff on the shower pan we installed in our house, and it works great at waterproofing it. I have to say that my husband got up on the roof and painted this on the shingles around the skylight when we had a leak and because it was not the same color as the shingles, he spray painted it with black spray paint and we have not had a leak since then. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to others!.

The product is great
5/5

I used it over cement board (Durock) when remodeling my bathroom for the first time.

I even installed some shower niches with this product.

I can say this product exceeded my expectations, it penetrated over the pores of the durock well, and I was sure a full seal would be achieved. Using plastic liners, I made some flaps for the cement boards and painted over them with HydroBan to allow water to run down the tub's flanges. This program worked great for me and I highly recommend it. Having never used RedGuard prior to this, I'm willing to bet that this is far superior.

I really like this
5/5

I really like this. With two heavy coats, each gal will cover 50 square feet. The paint brush is the best tool for applying it, since the paint is too thick for rollers. It turned out that I only needed 2 buckets of ice and got 3 instead. Considering the cost of the product, the seller does charge a restock fee of 20%, which is reasonable given their high price tag. This does make a great seal for your shower walls without needing underlayments, corner pads, or edge caps. Large cracks and cement board edges will not be covered by Hydro Ban, so seal the cement board edges and corners with quality clear cocking and smooth with a putty knife. Clean up any cocking by hand immediately after application. Then I applied two thick coats of Hydro Ban, and the shower has been thoroughly sealed and ready for tiling.
