Questions & Answers

Is the 1- 3/4 of the interior space? Is there a left wound and a right wound, and are the springs clearly labeled?

Yes, the inside diameter is what you're looking for. When looking out the drive way from inside the garage door, the Left side of the spring has RED paint/mark on the end (usually RED never goes RIGHT), and the Right side end has BLACK paint. This is a common practice among most torsion springs.

Hi, I placed an order for these, but it was canceled. Is this why you don't deliver to Hawaii? Kindly inform me. ?

I'm not a shipper, but I can tell you that shipping to Hawaii from the mainland can be difficult; you should contact Amazon Customer Service for more information.

How does the life cycle of spring work?

I replaced mine in March of 2017, so I can't give you a lot of information about the life cycle, but they are exactly what they say they are.

Is it possible for me to simply place an order for Left Wind?

I'm not sure if single springs are available, but you should buy them in pairs anyway. The springs begin to wear out as they grow older. When one fails, the other is likely to follow close behind. In order to slide the shaft out, you'll have to unwind and remove both. Why put in all that effort only to replace an old, worn spring with a new one?

There will be two springs this year, rather than one
5/5

There was only one spring on my garage door. As a result, it most likely busted, and luckily, the door was only a few feet off the ground because it slammed down. br>I did some research into the number of twists, length, and whether or not the springs would cam with a turning rod. My garage door is now perfectly balanced, the motor isn't working as hard, and it raises and lowers with greater precision. I'm glad I bought these because they were easy to install.

Works! I'm overjoyed with the end result
5/5

It does what it says. br>br>After my garage torsion springs failed after 20+ years, I installed this myself (regular diy guy). I spent a week researching the installation using YouTube videos. To replace the old one, I purchased a full-face impact-resistant plastic mask with winding springs. I measured the old springs and used that information to match the springs I purchased (again, thanks to YouTube). I made another adjustment after an initial adjustment where I didn't put an extra turn (the garage door was still heavy), and it's perfect and balanced (two turns at a time, for a total of four and a quarter run). I can now lift my wind reinforced garage door with one hand!! When the spring broke, I needed my friend to assist me in lifting. If you leave the middle half open, it will stay level! The quality appears to be comparable to that of my previous springs, which lasted 20 years or more. Because it didn't come with a center bearing, I purchased one for $5 on Amazon. Overall, it cost me two weeks of not having a working garage, $93 in parts, a face mask, and a lot of knowledge about how to work on my house. Without a doubt.

Unpacking the contents should be done with caution
3/5

I had no issues with the torsion springs themselves; they appear to be in good working order; however, I had a major issue with the way everything was packaged in the shipping box. To begin with, there was very little packing material inside the box, so everything was literally rattling around inside, and the box itself was in poor condition. So, metal springs and steel rods aren't delicate art work, right? So I opened the box and took one of the springs out, and everything appears to be in good working order. When I tilt it long ways to check the parts to make sure it's the right size, one of the steel winding rods falls out. Surprisingly, it slams end first into my kitchen floor tile, cracking it! Fortunately, it did not land on my bare foot. Now I have two projects to work on: the broken garage door and the tile; the bottom line is that this was at best a poor packing job, and at worst a hazard that could have seriously injured me. A potentially dangerous situation could have been avoided if the winding rods had been taped around the outside of one of the springs. So. The moral of the story is to be cautious when unpacking to avoid injury; however, the springs and installation went smoothly, and the product appears to work as advertised. If you plan on installing these yourself, make sure to watch videos online and follow all safety precautions— which, in this case, should begin as soon as the product is unpacked.

My garage door has been repaired and is now functional
5/5

This assisted me in resolving my garage door issue, which was a broken spring. I ordered the springs after measuring, measuring, and measuring again, hoping that I had done everything correctly. br>br>I had no prior experience with garage doors. Each and every coworker and/or friend A coworker who I spoke with about it forewarned me. "A screwdriver is not to be used!" " or "Those springs are extremely hazardous. " " and "It's probably best if you call a pro. " "br>br>I watched a couple of well-made tutorial videos on "measuring garage door springs," "replacing garage door springs," and even "replacing garage door rollers. " At that point, I knew I was capable of accomplishing my goal. Because the torsion bar was caked with popcorn from the previous owner's popcorning of the ceiling, it took a couple of hours to replace the springs. I had to get rid of everything. On both sides of the torsion bar, at least for about two feet. It was then all downhill from there. Winding bars [what you use to wind-up a wind-up toy] windy and down- springs before removing them or after replacing them] come with the springs, respectively. br>br>Despite the fact that my package was delivered a day late by UPS due to it being loaded onto the wrong truck, and had a gaping hole in the top of the box, all parts were in the box.
