Questions & Answers
The hook at the bottom of the "C" is a safety feature that prevents it from impaling you if it breaks while you're nearby. It's fine if you remove the hook from your old springs, as I did.
The P728 does not come with a "w" or "c" hook, whereas the P728C used to have one. a hook has been attached We don't ship with any of our products. Any of our springs no longer have hooks on them.
A safety cable is already built into the spring.
Yes, you can combine P728 and P528 to increase the load capacity of your springs. If you already have a balanced door with all P728 springs, you should keep them. If it's a new door, you'll need to figure out how much it weighs and then balance it properly once it's installed.

These springs are extremely difficult to find and must be replaced EXACTLY. They're not available at your local Home Depot. And don't bother asking because the staff isn't familiar with one-piece doors because they're older, and Home Depot now only sells overhead track designs. Look up where to find the make and model number, as well as installation instructions, on YOU TUBE. Note: If you're not sure what you're doing, this can be dangerous. The P728 was an excellent replacement, and you MUST replace them in pairs! I was very pleased with the delivery and the vendor.
Purchasing is not recommended. For 45 years, the originals were in use. One of these replacements recently broke, frightening me to death. Someone hit a parked car at 30 mph, according to the sounds. The flying "S" hook could have killed me if I had been in the garage at the time of the failure. This product is of poor quality and should not be trusted. On something that should last decades, a one-year warranty is pathetic. It's time to upgrade to a more modern, segmented door that won't kill you. It appears to be a good product, but it's actually low-quality metallurgy, and you're risking your life or the life of someone else by trusting this inferior garbage. A ten out of ten rating.
These springs are a lot more powerful than the P728 springs I replaced. In the wind, the old springs would cause the door to droop. It's difficult to get the door down with the new springs, and you have to be careful not to whack the stops in the up position when opening it. They are far too powerful, but I suppose that as they age, they will become weaker. My aluminum door is 15 feet wide and 7 feet tall.
An easy- Part of my garage door's components was installed and is fully functional.
These springs do exactly what they say they're going to do. I'm in ecstasy right now.
They're identical to the one they're supposed to replace.
