Questions & Answers

I'm not sure what the proper cable length is. Is there a discrepancy between the package photo and the description?

Thank you very much! That had escaped my notice! The i/8 is 168 inches, and the 3/32 is 156 inches, according to the package. The text has been updated to reflect this.

All I have to do now is replace the cables on both sides of the latch. Is this kit going to function properly? After I cut the cables to size, how would I secure them to the hardware?

It will, in fact. Use the cables with a smaller diameter (3/32"). On one end, there is a loop, and the other end is secured by two cable clamps. There are also two compression sleeves included, which can be used to create two additional loops. You can also cut the existing loop and fasten one end of the cable to the hardware with cable clamps and the other end of the cable with compression sleeves.

Will this kit fit a garage door that is 7 feet tall and has extension springs?

I used this kit to replace the cables on my garage door, and it worked perfectly. It's impossible to say whether or not it'll work for you.

I'm looking for the cable that connects the garage door to the garage door opener. ?

Doing it yourself will save you a great deal of money.

Excellent kit with a simple repair process! This kit came in handy when I needed it the most
5/5

Here's how it works: br>br> When I left for work about a week ago, the garage door opener was fine; however, when I returned home later that afternoon, the door had opened about a foot, stopped, and refused to go any further. Following some investigation, it was discovered that the cable on one side of the garage door had frayed and split in half. The extension spring was dangling from the ceiling at an odd angle. After releasing the cable and removing the spring, I attempted to operate the garage door opener, but it would not budge because only one side was "working. " br>br>Here in upstate New York, it's December, which means snow is on the way - I despise scraping my car and needed it fixed as soon as possible so I could get it back into the garage. br>br>I checked the yellow pages and discovered that only two businesses in the area worked on garage doors, both of which were 25 miles away, meaning that I'd be paying for an hour round trip for the service tech before he/she even started working on the door. br>br>I took a look at the still-unopened package. On the working side, the hardware and setup appeared to be fairly straightforward. I figured I could use that side as a template, so I went to Google/Duckduckgo and found the cable replacement kit solution. A couple of options were listed on Amazon, and this kit appeared to be both comprehensive and of high quality - It was both, in the end. br>br>Despite the fact that I had never worked on a garage door before, I was able to replace the cable in less than 30 minutes, which included moving some things around in the garage. It turned out to be a fairly simple fix in terms of home repairs, and it was a bargain compared to the cost of hiring a professional to come in from half an hour away. The only tool I required was a 6-foot step ladder. br>br>Before trying the door opener, I took my time, double-checking my rigging against the other, functional side, and making sure everything was tight and trim. To my great relief, it worked perfectly the first time. br>br>I'm guessing that if I can do it, anyone with basic fix-it skills should be able to as well. It's likely that someone with the right skills could do it. I'm not sure how much a service call from one of the garage door experts would have cost, but I'm guessing somewhere in the "over-the-top" range. Less than $100- than- "$500" price range When you consider that the parts cost less than $25 and 30 minutes of my time, I believe this is a good deal. It's also something that a single person can do on their own. br>br>One thing to keep in mind is that the kit does not include any instructions. just FYI. You'll either need to know what you're doing or be able to look at one side of the rigging and figure out how it's set up. There's almost certainly a video on YouTube or something similar - I didn't need it, but if it had come to that, that would have been Plan B. Finally, I would enthusiastically endorse this seller! I needed this kit quickly, and it arrived on time and in perfect condition. br>br>I'm not an expert in this field, but I'd be happy to try to answer questions (based on my VERY limited experience!). )br>br>Best of luck!.

Garage door cable replacement kit with a flexible design
5/5

Because the previous garage door relied on an unseen torsion spring to counterbalance the door's weight, I had to install springs. Unfortunately, the cable attachment kit was not available in any of the big box stores. As a result, I purchased it. It had cables in two different gauges, as well as matching fasteners, which was a pleasant surprise. As a result, doors of various sizes and weights should work. However, I'm not sure how much weight it can handle.

Make sure you get the right size, and have a professional install it
5/5

Before ordering, we did some research on our current garage door hardware, and we're glad we did. We were able to choose the correct product and install it safely with the help of a YouTube video. My husband is a mechanical engineer, and you should exercise extreme caution when installing any garage door product for safety reasons.

This garage door kit is fantastic! This is a fantastic product! I recently purchased a home with a one-car garage door that had severely stretched extension springs and frayed cables
5/5

The existing door was poorly installed and lacked adjustment clips. After doing some research online, I figured I could fix it fairly quickly and correctly. I attempted to purchase all of the components at a local big box store but was unable to locate the adjustment clips. I returned the S- when I saw this product. I purchased this kit as well as hooks and cables from a big box store. This past weekend, I completed the installation and now have a fully functional garage door! The inclusion of 1/8" and 3/32" cables is ideal for those with a single door. You can use the 1/8" cables for added security and the 3/32" for safety cables, or if you already have safety cables, you can save the other set for when you need to replace the springs again. Also useful are the cable clamps, compression sleeves, and stops. Big box stores are a waste of time. Get your door fixed the right way by purchasing this kit, which comes with free shipping. It makes me happy to know that I'm also helping a small family-owned business.

Good product that performs identically to the original
5/5

Good product that performs identically to the original. It's the same thickness and length on both sides of the door, and it's very simple to install; it took me about an hour to replace all four cables on both sides. br>All I did was follow the same steps as the original installation. The old cable had a life expectancy of 18 years.

Good
4/5

It was a success. Two widths were included, but they were packaged in a stapled ziplock bag: / I wish there was something to keep the cut edge from being damaged (I didn't have the necessary soldering equipment). But it completely solved my problem, so I'm very pleased.

That's exactly what I was looking for! Everything I needed to repair a snapped cable on my heavy solid wood garage door was included
5/5

This set included a number of high-quality items. high-quality cables (both safety and pulley cables! I had everything I needed, including hooks, clamps, and clips. Because the pulley cables were already looped, all I had to do was hook them on the brackets and thread them through. The 14-foot cables were just what I needed. The length of the foot cables was ideal. All of this, plus the product arrived on time (and in good condition!).

High-quality cables with everything you'll need to swap them out
5/5

This includes thick cables for connecting to extension springs and pulleys, as well as a thinner safety cable. It also includes all of the components required to connect the cables safely. Nice set.
