This was a fairly simple fix - We had a garage door company repair the spring the last time it broke, and it took less than 2 hours. During this procedure, I discovered that they had installed the incorrect spring - One that was too small for the door and out of sync with the other. The only thing they did was replace the broken spring - I replaced both springs with this set and the door now works better than it ever did before. This saved us at least $250 over hiring a service company to fix it, and I'm confident it'll be done correctly this time.
It was exactly what I was looking for. Part of it was fantastic. The winding bars are about 2 inches too short, as stated in other reviews; they would rest on the top brace and be a lot safer if they were 2 inches longer; as it is, they tightly fit just over the top brace at the current size. They worked, to be sure, but why not make them a little longer and safer? When I picked it up off the front porch, the box was open on the end and the bars had fallen out, so tape them to the springs to keep them from getting lost in shipping. The springs were perfect in every other way.
and stated that they would not be able to install it for several weeks. They were delivered in less than a week thanks to Amazon. They arrived on time, and I had a knowledgeable friend come over and replace the broken one, as well as the other ten. year- Spring is in the air. They've only been in use for a week, but so far they've performed admirably. I would strongly advise anyone to visit these springs.
I bought this for my 16x7 garage door; it was my fault for not reading the instructions, and it nearly destroyed my garage because it was too heavy! After days of attempting to balance the door, I sought professional assistance, who informed me that the springs in question were not the correct ones for my door. My advice is to make sure you get the right springs for your garage door so you don't end up with any problems.
Check that the springs you're replacing are the same size (and color) as the ones you're replacing before you buy. The bars to tighten it up are included. The bars could have been a little nicer, but they got the job done. This product is one I would recommend, but if you are unsure about replacing these yourself, hire a professional. Before doing the replacement, I watched a few how-to videos on YouTube. Because the spring is under a lot of tension, if you don't have enough arm strength or have bad arthritis in your hands, hire a professional to avoid an accident.
The tension is loaded using the springs that come with the bars. After watching a helpful YouTube video, I was able to replace both springs in under an hour. The total cost, which included new cables, was about a quarter of what a local installer had quoted.
If you know what you're doing, Perfect Fit is simple to set up. The installation was a breeze for me because I used to professionally install garage doors. The delivery was extremely quick. The springs' 12" winding bars are too short, and I believe they are a safety hazard, so I used my own winding bars for my own safety. Based on the spings, I gave it a five-star rating.
They appear to be of good quality, and the price was reasonable because they were in stock.
