For this cap to work and mount to your post, Alan, you'll need to add to the post, which is about 1 1/2 inches down. I'd either glue an extra 1 inch 4 x 4 block to each post or add spacers to each screw (there are two and they screw from the top) before mounting each post myself. Good luck
These caps are designed to slide down the post. 5". If your bevel is less than one, you're good to go. They'll cover your posts because they're 5 inches tall.

Hello Amy, The cost of (1) 4x4 (Nominal) Black Pyramid Post Cap - It costs $9 with a 10-year warranty.

To answer your question, I have used my caps on a 4x4 wood post and there is still some space on them, so I believe they will fit. If you are not satisfied with my response, I will try to contact the vendor. Best of luck with your project.

The appearance is nice, but the post cap isn't very sturdy. When using a hand rail, it's only natural for people to grab onto the post caps, and these will easily break due to the fit and design. They are wobbly and weak even when securely screwed. When they finally fail (which they will), I'll replace them with something more durable. It would have been so simple to design two more screw tabs into the base to make these install more securely. (These are thin, brittle plastic. ) In my opinion, it's a piece of cheap plastic garbage.
It's simple to put together and looks great from a distance of ten feet. They have a distinct "plastic" quality to them. When touched, they have an "icky" appearance and don't have a strong tactile feel. It appears to be a little pricey for the final look and feel. The base screwed on nicely, and we received 36 of them. It would be difficult to pry the top off the base because it snaps on tightly. We spent a lot of money on plastic caps, so we're hoping they last a long time.
Installing it was a breeze. They were a little loose after installation, according to some reviews, but I fixed that by drilling two small holes on the bottom flange opposite each other and installing two 6 black button head screws. It worked perfectly! The price is unbeatable!!.
I recently purchased a few more of these to replace some worn-out solar-powered lighted caps. I had two more "new" ones in my garage and noticed that they matched perfectly, despite the fact that the first ones had been out on my deck for over four years and had been exposed to the sun and weather. These didn't fade or crack, and they looked exactly like the new ones I had in a garage drawer! br>br>These are definitely worth trying.
These look fantastic, and I would highly recommend them for use as a wooden pool fence post. Thank you, Atlanta Fence Post.
I installed them without using any screws (because none were provided) because they fit snugly against the nominal 4x4 post (3. 5"x3. 5"), and they don't require any screws to keep them in place. The cap is made up of two pieces. On the inside of the first part, there are plastic wings that press against the wood. The bottom half snaps onto the second part, which is the cap. More information is available on the Atlanta Post Caps' website. The plastic is not at all flimsy, as some of the other reviews suggest. They were used to replace the wood caps that had deteriorated after three years. This is a product that I would recommend to anyone who is building a deck. br> is a link to the manufacturer.
The construction is made of flimsy plastic. They jiggle around, so I can't lean on them. Although it appears to be in good condition, I would not purchase this item again.
It was incredibly simple to set up. If the top of your board isn't level, shim these in place and it'll be fine. They look great, and I think they'll last a long time. So far, I've placed ten orders. There are none!.
