Questions & Answers

Is it suitable for installations that are angled?

You are right. The product I used was for my exterior staircase, it worked perfectly.

How effective are the sleeves for protecting the railings on my deck?

I believe they are very effective. This is an excellent deal for 100 pieces. The cables fit well with 3/16 cable. I was happy with the drill bit's quality and the price was very reasonable

Are there any options for railings that are 5/32" cable?

The cable will fit a 5/32" diameter

Is it possible to fit a 3/16" cable with plastic coating and 1/4" total OD through this cutout? Is there one that does? If not, can you recommend one?

In this case, I bought 100 pieces of 1/8" cable. These sleeves are made of stainless steel, T316, and are suitable for cables 1/8", 5/32", and 3/16". Cable with a 1/4" outside diameter and 3/16" coating will not work with this method. 1/4" sleeves are attached to them.

My husband and I replaced our old, rotted log cabin railing on the lake with a wire railing after he finally bit the bullet. The result was amazing, and it would have been better if I had done it years ago. The lake house we built in 2012 is a log cabin atop a lake in Upstate New York. Log spindles were used for the railing of the log cabin kit. Although the cabin theme looks great, my wife was unable to see the lake from the deck at all when she sat in a chair on the deck! In the end, I did a bunch of research and came up with the following installation as the best for us. I left the log up right, but took off the log rails and spindles as you can see in the complete photos. Because I was keeping the logs upright, it became clear to me that using a jig to drill through the logs and keep them perfectly straight and evenly separated would Therefore I felt my first concept of having one long wire run from end to end (40 feet) with turnbuckles on one end would be unworkable. I eventually came across threaded swag lag screws. The Lag Screws can be used to secure 5 separate groups of wires onto the log rights and I do not have to drill through the log rights to secure the wires, only predrill starter holes into the logs. From the same type of wood that we used for the cabin, we built the top rail. We used top rails as uprights for the two widest sections on the left. The two long sections on the left are 10' 6 " wide each, and the three short sections on the right are 5' 6 " wide each (plus or minus To do the job I bought the following supplies I bought all of the items below through Amazon, listed in descending order. All in all, including the tools, it only cost $332. It was a steal in my book (no pun intended) with the outcome I received at the end. 1.

Installation I took two days to complete. As I stated earlier, I had to remove the old railing sections and replace three upright logs which had begun to We were able to begin running the wires as soon as we had replaced the uprights and placed the top rail wood. Running all the wires on the second day. My deck is 40 feet wide I laid out the wires 3" apart, created a plywood template with predrilled holes precisely where I need the screws to go, and made a plywood template with predrilled holes. When the template was set up against the right, I would predrill the holes for the lags using the holes specified by the template. Each log comes with a drill bit so that you can predrill it before mounting it. The holes will be the same size, so there should be no errors in size. Predrilling the holes in the upright sections that served as wire guides and using the steel sleeves I put on either side of the holes helped prevent the wires from slipping. In the beginning, insert the lags (noting one side of the lags is revered threaded for later turn) per the instructions we put the lags in about 1/12 to 1/3 way into the head. The tip we found was to turn in every other wire first because the little wrenches you have to turn are going to hit the next wire so it made them The course is also suitable for those in pre-university I started the lags by placing them into my cordless drill and using the drill to get them going. The Muzata wire cutters above worked great for all our cuts. They didn't dull at all once we finished. Use the crimper to secure the lag and wire together. It was much faster than cutting and crimping wire by hand. Initially, you may think it's easy, but by the time you reach your 200th crimp, you're sure to feel the strain. All the wires should be connected in the same way. That's all there is to it. The wires were cut into five pieces of 10 wire each, meaning we had 20 lag screws per section or 100 lags in total, and 2 crimps on each lag or 200 crimps in total, and 50 lengths of wires totaling We spent all day on it, but it looked great once we were done! it and it is totally doable with even a bit of effort if you are knowledgeable and It took my wife and me a week to do it by ourselves, and our friends can't stop telling us how great it is. All of the wire products and tools used by our team were excellent. I would do it again without a second thought.

They look great on vinyl deck posts
5/5

I installed a cable deck railing on vinyl deck posts and these were perfect for stopping chaffing and making the posts look great. The grommets are easy to install by drilling to the proper width before putting them in. I didn't prepare some of the components before I installed them, which made installation more challenging I did not have trouble drilling perfectly straight holes, but I had to reamer the holes before installing them if it was difficult to do so. Otherwise, they look great and are easy to install.

The drill bit needs to be longer
4/5

The results look good once they have been Gives it a much more finished appearance. We only have one complaint about the drill bit it should be an extra inch or two longer for posts 4 inches in diameter. While I was drilling a post, it was so close to coming out the tip that I wasn't confident that it would make it through the drilling bit. I felt unsafe since I kept thinking it might come out of the bit.

Despite its simplicity, this product does a great job This is complete
5/5

A quality product is an excellent product. A six-inch shank has a six-inch internal diameter. A little over 1/4" is 5mm, which is a smidge over 5mm. Among its features is a 6-inch screen. The drill bit is 5mm in diameter and very sharp. There is no gap enough in the bit to go through a 4x4 or a 4x6 so I pre-pushed By drilling with my 12" long 1/4" bit and smoothing out the ends with my 6" I was able to create a curved surface. Five millimeters. By lightly tapping the sleeves with a hammer, they will fit better. This is perfect!.

The people they call themselves are who they claim to be
5/5

According to their description, they are what they seem. Only slight issue that I have is the included drill bit could be you need to go through small posts with 4x4 dimensions, you will need to attach the bit to the very end so that it barely gets I don't deduct any stars because this still represents an excellent deal due to the price factor.

The perfect solution to my problems
5/5

I was looking for just what I needed in this product. We ordered and received it within a few days of ordering and they delivered it to us seamlessly. Reviewing is a problem due to the impulsive nature of the decision. When we write about a product, we are talking about how it is right out of the box or after first It will take two years for the verdict to be given on this product. Does stainless steel stand up to the harsh salt water environment in which it is Time will tell if this works out. However, the situation has so far been good. I am Jamie.
