The blue part of this filter keeps the white part of the filter wet. If the humidifier's filter becomes dry, it will no longer produce moisture. br>Once the filter has lost its ability to retain moisture, it must be discarded and replaced. I have other all-white filters that dry up faster than this one with the blue part around it.
That's correct. We had to send ours back and buy the original filter again.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We've recently begun to include a blue layer on the outside of our filters. The all-white filters may still be available in some stores. As of January 2020, these filters have been updated. I've had this humidifier for almost three years and I've been very happy with it. It almost completely eliminated my chronic dry sinuses, and I haven't had a nose bleed in years. I changed my filter once a month and used the Subscribe feature as well. Use the Save feature to get a new one at a reduced price every month. I only use distilled water, and I've always kept a low-powered humidifier next to my bed while sleeping. And the water reservoir would only need to be refilled every two days. Every night, it would use a half gallon of water. On the low setting, I slept for 9 hours. br>br>In December of this year, I received an email from Amazon stating that my item was no longer available for Subscribe and Save. Save and notify me when I need to change something. When I checked, it said the filter I was looking for (the Honeywell type A) was out of stock, with no indication of when it would be available again. I eventually came across this "new version" of the A filter with this blue netting attached that claims to be effective at reducing mold and other contaminants. That may be true, but it also reduces water wicking. This filter isn't capable of holding water that is worth spitting on. I've had to constantly wet it for the past two weeks, and each morning I wake up to find that the water reservoir has barely depleted. My sinuses have become dry, and I'm not sleeping as well as I used to. I'll be on the lookout for a non-profit organization that can help me. This is the Honeywell version of the old filter, which does not have the blue netting. I don't care if it's more mold-prone; at the very least, it's functional. I strongly advise anyone not to waste their money on Honeywell's new A filter. To be honest, I'm surprised there haven't been more complaints.
This is the first time I've used the new version, and I'm not happy with it. I've never had a mold problem before, but this one developed mold after only a few weeks of use. I'd like to see the previous version returned!.
I spent $20 on two filters that only lasted about two weeks. I can't get a refund because I had to throw away the filter, but $20 is a lot of money to waste on a bad product; it's a complete ripoff. I would recommend purchasing a new humidifier or purchasing a new filter.
It was only for a short time.
I used to use the old filter because it worked well and lasted a long time, and I had no problems with it. I never had any problems with it, even when I used the medium and high settings. This new filter, on the other hand, is completely ineffective. I had to use the high setting, which obviously does not work because the water lever would have barely gone down after 8 hours, and I had to flip the filter over twice a day because it dried out so quickly. With the previous model, I never had this issue. My sinuses are dry and I need to buy a new filter because the new one isn't working.
This is the new version of the Honeywell Replacement Wicking Filter A with the Blue outer layer, and it's an excellent product. The blue outer layer appears to aid in the filter's circular shape retention, whereas the previous non-blue layer appears to aid in the filter's circular shape loss. After a few uses, the blue version would lose its shape and would not hold up well in the humidifier. After a month of use, I was able to completely rejuvenate this new blue filter by soaking it in a bowl of warm water with about a tablespoon of food-grade citric acid for 30 minutes. The filter's wicking efficiency was restored as a result of the water deposits being removed.
Although buying a two-pack at Target is less expensive, if you only need one, The advantage of this filter is that it comes with the Pro-Mark certification. Tec features are pre-installed. As a result, you won't need to purchase another Pro-Plus card. To get rid of bacteria in the humidifier, use a Tec ball/fish. It's still necessary to wash and rinse the filter on a weekly basis (flip it over!). ), but it'll last you the entire month.
I've been experimenting with OEM and third-party filters to see which offers the best value for money. This filter has been changed, and it now lasts longer than any of the others. Because we have hard water, our filters usually scale up. After two months, this one is still going strong. Cheap filters won't last a month before hardening and becoming useless, whereas OEM filters used to last a little over a month. This is an excellent purchase. br>br>.
