Mine does not have the same appearance as the ones I discarded. There's a smidgeon of a sheen to it, but it's not a crust. The mesh allows me to see right through it.
Always read the product's description before making a purchase. It lists all of the models that it will work with, including yours, as well as the filter's dimensions.
I'm not sure about that, but the guy who installed our Aprilaire suggested that if you have to replace the water panel more than once a season, you should consider getting a water softener (or, if you already have one, use the softened water to feed the unit). I hope this information is useful.

I purchased a two-bedroom apartment with two bathrooms. In September, I purchased a pack of Aprilaire 35 water panels and installed one. I noticed a leak that I couldn't explain shortly after it was installed. I removed the cover of the Aprilaire unit to inspect the water flow and discovered a tiny pinhole leak in the panel after a closer inspection. The leak was fixed after I replaced the panel with a second water panel. Until today, December 5th, 2017, when another leak occurred. I removed the cover once more and noticed water dripping down the panel (not over the tray) from the top panel (the black water distribution tray). I went to my local TruValue hardware store and purchased an off-the-shelf replacement panel. I discovered the issue when I compared the old and new panels - The Amazon panels were about an eighth of an inch thinner (not top to bottom or side to side) than the OEM panels from the store. The product was problematic, despite the fact that the boxes I received from Amazon were identical to those available "off the shelf" locally. Is this a problem that others have had?.
I assumed they must be junk for only a few dollars each, but decided to order one on the spur of the moment in the hopes that it would be at least somewhat comparable to the Aprilaire. Today, the package arrived, and to my surprise, not only was it similar quality to the OEM. It WAS an OEM Aprilaire in OEM packaging, and it looked exactly like the two-pack of filters I paid more for. As you can see in the photo below, the water panel I received from FiltersNow wasn't a knockoff or "aftermarket" item as the listing claimed; it was the genuine article. br>br>I've never been happier than when a listing is incorrect. This is something I will definitely purchase again.
There's not a lot to say about this water panel replacement. It wasn't a difficult task. The humidifier's door should be open. - Turn off the water supply - Simply pull it off; it's a rubber hose that's only held in place by friction. Remove the original water panel from the holder by removing the old panel and holder. Replace the panel in the humidifier by inserting it into the panel holder. Reattach the water hose and close the humidifier door, and you're ready to go. It took me longer to write this than it did to complete the task. The instructions that come with the replacement panel are clear and concise.
I placed an order for two- I received a pack of panels and was pleased to discover that they were identical to the original OEM panel in my Aprilaire 700 humidifier. They were a perfect fit, right down to the clay coating and colored marks to indicate the filter's top. These were an excellent deal for replacing the original panel and getting my furnace ready for the upcoming heating season. br>br>Installation instructions were included with the panels. I've included a photo to demonstrate how it appears.
If you call your HVAC company, they will charge you $79 on average for the visit and charge you an absurd hourly rate that is billed every 15 minutes. And then they'll spend $159 on something that takes 10 seconds and only costs a few dollars on Amazon. Simply inquire about the model number from the HVAC company that installed the whole house humidifier. It's unlikely to be on your unit because it'd be far too simple. Once you have this information, you can go to Amazon and look for replacement filters. It snaps into place in the plastic housing where the old one used to be. You've completed the task at hand. Please accept my sincere gratitude.
My mother called to say she smelled something strange coming from the air conditioning vents. We called the gas company because we suspected a gas leak. There was no leak, so I went down to her basement to figure out where the odor was coming from. When I opened the cover on the humidifier attached to the furnace, the odor was so strong that I knew it was coming from there. It was the water panel that did it. I replaced the water panel in March, and she's been smelling it since then. So she smelled it the most every time the humidifier turned on, so I'm going to order a new one and hope the smell doesn't return. I'm not sure if it was a defect, but when I received the water panel, the box was already open, which I thought was odd, but I used it anyway, assuming it had opened during transit. I ordered the same water panel from Amazon about a year or two ago and had no issues with it, so I'm not sure why this one smelled.
A manufacturing flaw was discovered in one of the water panels (see image). After three weeks of intermittent leaking and many hours spent troubleshooting the source, it was discovered. When the second water panel was installed, the problem was completely resolved. Other reviewers have mentioned similar issues, so I'll keep an eye out for them in the future and respond as soon as possible if I find them. He will contact Amazon directly because he is currently 4 days past the return period. br>br>Panels came in an Aprilaire box and don't appear to be fake.
I adore having a humidifier throughout the house. Because this is only the internal metal mesh piece, you'll need to disassemble it and clean it up before reassembling it. Make use of the plastic frame that it is designed to fit into. Pay attention to the small black dot painted in the middle of the short edge and follow the instructions for reassembling the piece - Alternatively, pay attention while dismantling the last one, or both. For many years, we've replaced the evaporator panel ourselves. When the HVAC company did it for us, they charged an arm and a leg. With any heater, a whole-house humidifier is a must to avoid dry air, dry sinuses, and to keep your hardwood floors in good condition. We have wood furniture and floors, and we no longer have scratchy throats in the morning. We replace the evaporator panel and place paper towels beneath it at the start of each winter season to ensure that it is working properly and not leaking. So far, everything seems to be going swimmingly. If you're experiencing a leak, it's possible that your condenser hose is clogged and needs to be cleaned. (One year, we had that problem. ).
