For a long time, using the Vornado OEM wicks has been a risk. A new set of wicks can improve performance in some cases, but it can also have no effect. Based on other reviews, I decided to purchase these as an alternative experiment. I recently compared the two and found that this is the clear winner. My old Vornado wicks would only wick water halfway up the wick on a regular basis. After six weeks of operation, I checked these filters and discovered that the moisture had wicked two-thirds of the way out. three-quarters of the way to the top I've never seen anything like it. For a long time, I'd noticed that Vornado wicks were often hard and stale right out of the package, whereas these were soft and supple. In the end, these wicks outperform the Vornado wicks.

My most recent attempt to get this humidifier to work properly is the 40 humidifier. I've tried almost all of the replacement wicks, as well as the Vornado original wicks, and they've all disappointed me. I believe Vornado changed the wicks' manufacturer or material at some point, and they ceased to function properly. They would either not wick water at all or only for a short period of time, and the majority of the problems with this type of humidifier can be traced back to poor water quality. To remove impurities, I use water that has been softened and then passed through a filter/RO unit. This is about the highest possible water quality for your home. In comparison to the originals, I found these wicks to be slightly oversized, measuring 1" wider. This seemed like a problem at first, but then I realized the opening for air to come through the wicks is trapezoidal in shape, 1" wider at the top than the bottom. These wicks, on the other hand, did a better job of filling the void. It is inefficient and produces less humidified air if all of the air does not pass through the wick. These wicks are far superior to any other I've tried. To prevent bacteria from growing, I clean the wicks and interior surfaces every three weeks with a bleach/water solution. In a small 12"x10"x4" plastic pan, mix 1/2 cup bleach with a gallon of water. Soak for an hour before rinsing until the bleach smell has faded. I've discovered that the water from the wicks can be squeezed out without causing damage to the wicks, as some other reviewers have reported. I also clean the humidifier pan and water jugs with the same bleach/water mixture, which has resulted in better humidifier results.

Yes, I understand why you've come to see me: You love your Vornado Humidifier, but the filters are no longer working (too stiff, won't absorb water, etc. ). br>These are perfect replacements. I set up two humidifiers and have been using them on high, non-stop. The filters are still saturated from top to bottom after a 48-hour break. *Pro Tip: I also wet the filter by running it under the faucet. before putting it in place.

For several years, I've had two Vornado EV100 humidifiers (which I adore and which perform admirably). I've tried Vornado's original evaporative filters as well as purchasing and using Flintar filters on several occasions (4 in total). The Flintar filters consistently fail to fully wick water into the filter, resulting in very little water being released into the air, regardless of how much the humidifier runs. I've tested these two brands of filters four times now, and Vornado filters win hands down every time for fully wicking water up into the entire filter - As a result, the air becomes humidified. Flintar is not something I will purchase again - They're a complete waste of money.

This item is nearly useless when used in a Vornado humidifier. The wicking simply does not work, and the fit is poor. The water is moving somewhere, but it isn't showing up as a rise in humidity. Back to the original Vornado wicks, which, despite being more expensive, do the job, fit my machine, and, most importantly, increase humidity. The Vornado wicks can easily get to 60%, but it is a struggle to get over 50% with these wicks. Unless you just want to get to 45-minutes, I wouldn't bother. 50 of the time and your machine will be on all of the time!.

This works better than the other brand I tried and is more like the originals that came with the unit. br>br>To be honest, if you want the Vornado unit to work properly, you should use distilled or filtered water. If you have any kind of particulate in your tap, it will just make everything a gunky mess. Many people tire of doing so and switch to tap water, which causes the wick to stop functioning.

TOTAL GARBAGE! DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY IN THIS WAY. After trying a few pairs of vornado/name brand wicks, I decided to give these a try. I was hoping they'd last a little longer instead of needing to be replaced every two years or so. 3 months. What I discovered was that they never performed as well as the vornado and eventually failed after a week or two. Moisture only wicked 1/4 of the way up at first, and after a week or two, there was no moisture wicking and no water being humidified.

They dry out in about the same amount of time as the name brand ones in my Evap 2, which I run continuously. I just purchased another pack to get me through the season, but I plan to purchase a new humidifier next year that does not use this type of wick. In addition, the cost has increased. They used to be less expensive than name-brand products, but now they're nearly identical. It becomes a significant expense when you have to replace them on a regular basis.
