These were purchased last year and lasted the entire winter, so I reordered them this year. Not only did they turn yellow in a matter of days, but they also stank and gave my daughter's room a mildewy odor. After a few days, I had to replace the filter, and the next one quickly became gross as well. Furthermore, the dimensions of these filters have changed, and while my humidifier is still listed, it no longer fits properly, and you have to slam it shut. It's possible that the mold is to blame for the bad fit. I took photos to compare the previous and current winters. (The yellowed one is the original, while the clean one is the "replacement. ").
A Vicks V3700 humidifier is equipped with the filters. The necessary filters are rarely found in big-box stores. I spent $15 at CVS on a Protec WF2 filter, which I needed that night. Until now - the Extolife was in the unit for two nights - so good; The humidifier uses about half as much water as the Protec filter does.
The fibers, however, appear to be stiffer and more difficult to fit into the tray than name brand fibers. The filter was also dry and not wicking properly the first time I used it. However, in the last two days, I haven't had that issue. It also has a silvery fiber (looks like a thin strip of foil) running through it that the original filter does not have; I'm not sure what this is for or if it's what makes it stiffer and more difficult to fit.
We had to replace the filters in our Vick's humidifier. This six-pack was discovered. They perform admirably. The first one we tried was a little tight at first, but it was perfect after a little stretch.
My wife uses our Vicks humidifier every night, so this was a great purchase for her. They fit nicely and snugly, though I had to squeeze them in a little bit, and the quality and construction are excellent. They last a long time for the price, and with this type of humidifier, you have to replace them fairly frequently anyway, but for the price and the convenience of a six pack, I think I'll keep buying this one.
The space is insufficient. As a replacement for the Pritec WF2 filter, we purchased these. These, unfortunately, are much smaller than the WF2 filter. It was somewhere around 1. Our humidifier couldn't use it because it was 5 inches shorter in width. These have been returned to us. I won't be buying anything else.
We went to Amazon to look for this product because the filters were no longer available in our area. We've also always enjoyed the humidifier that comes with it. We were relieved to find that the filters were still available in sufficient quantities. I find that using a humidifier helps me to keep congestion at bay so that I can breathe more easily.
