Enough said! My skin is now easily bruised and torn. So, while these bad boys are making my legs sweat like crazy, they already blocked a pedal bite on the first time I used them. My legs have already taken a lot of punishment. It's important to me that they don't turn into shredded wheat.
As a result of chemotherapy, my husband's lower legs have thin skin. He had another cut on his leg recently, which necessitated visits to the wound clinic. He now wears these whenever he does work that puts his legs in danger of being cut. These serve as a barrier between him and harm.
I purchased a pair based on online reviews and a quick response from the company's owner. I'm 71, a hiker/cyclist/fitness center regular, and my skin bruises easily these days, so the owner told me Leg Shield offered protection. That's correct. I just got back from a 23-day trip around the world. Eight days of cycling were included in the day-long road trip. Leg Shield does not completely prevent bruising, such as from a hard contact, but it does significantly reduce the size of the bruise, and it did prevent bruising from some contacts. My wife recently altered the Leg Shield pair by adding a neoprene flap from a different shin guard between the velcro connectors on each Leg Shield. I'm now completely confident in my ability to avoid bruises. This is an excellent product, and I will buy another one at some point - the beginning of the cycling season.
The machines are close together, and I've smacked my shins against metal plates so many times that my legs look like I've been playing football! This group of guards is a gift from the gods. These will save you a lot of money on bandaids if you bump your legs because you're as awkward as me!.
love it. The front sprocket kept catching my pant cuff. I thought I'd give it a shot after seeing it on the internet. I was worried they'd be too hot (as some reviewers had complained). I discovered that loosening the velcro just a tad made it comfortable for me. (And, to be honest, a little extra warmth feels pretty good on some days. ) ) There's no need to be concerned about storage. I simply stack them on top of each other and roll them up to the velcro. For what it's worth, I'd like to see the gator come with a reflective coating on a large portion of the body. It'd be an excellent security feature. On the leading edge of the velcro binding, there should be a finger grip area. It would be a little easier to remove or adjust, but overall, this is a great product.
On my mountain bike rides, I use these to provide extra shin protection. I ride a 6-mile single-track loop that gains 900 feet in elevation. On the climb, I keep them in my jersey pockets and quickly put them on before the descent. Since I ride a three-wheeler, The scrapes, nicks, and scratches add up quickly when you do it four times a week. So far, I've been able to vouch for their brush resistance. They're made of neoprene, and like a wetsuit, they can get hot. It hasn't been an issue for me, and I believe the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. There is a lot of poison oak in one of the areas where the stream crosses. The rash on my calf started the last time I had a bad bout, so these gators should help. After each use, I thoroughly rinse them by hand and air dry them. So far, everything has gone well. I've used them a total of five times now. They appear to be well-made, and I've had no irritation or allergic reactions as a result of using them.
My cousin gets scrapes on his legs all the time, and they take forever to heal. Wearing these gaiters has alleviated a lot of his anxiety about doing things because he can go outside, walk around, do yardwork, and so on while his legs are protected. The velcro fasteners make it easy to put these on and adjust for a perfect fit. Just keep in mind that these require hand washing and line drying, so if you plan on wearing them frequently, buy two pairs so you can wear one while the other is being washed and dried.
These were purchased to protect my thin-skinned legs. The material is soft and non-itchy, and the straps can be adjusted easily. The inner seam left an imprint that lasted over a half hour after a day of wearing them in the garden and doing odd jobs around the yard. I'm not sure why the long seam was the only one that did it, but it did. I still like them and wear them on a regular basis, but the imprint was unexpected given how soft they are.
