Fits perfectly in an Old Town Canoe with black vinyl gunwales. Wenonah with black vinyl gunwales is also available.

One hand knob is used to mount the item. Mounting and dismounting are both done without the use of tools.

Canoes from other brands are not compatible. Metal or wood gunwales (rare, but some exist) are not suitable for Old Town. Electric trolling motors and gas trolling motors with a power output of 2 HP or less are suitable.

Any canoe would be too heavy with an outboard motor. What is this mount's weight and/or thrust rating?

This mount will work with any electric trolling motor. It comes with a sticker that says it can handle motors up to 3 HP, but that is not something I recommend. I'd recommend sticking to electric and keeping the thrust under 75 pounds.

Is the side saddle mount for my watersnake T 24 electric motor, which will be installed on my old town saranac 146 canoe, a safe and durable product?

Yes, that is correct.

Why are there so many negative reviews for this motor mount? Isn't it worthwhile to buy it?

On my Old Town Conor, this is sufficient. Fits well on the Gun Whale, but I add a wood block against the canoe's side and the mount's lower portion. For the price, it's a good buy, but there aren't any models to compare it to.

Is a piece of garbage. It was only used a few times during my three-month ownership. br>Week Metal failed, resulting in the loss of my outboard. br>Save your money!.
