Questions & Answers

Do you think this would ?

There is no way to use it with a kayak. Canoes are set up so that foam blocks are arranged in the right way and the spacing is correct. Kayaks are not set up like canoes.

Does anyone have experience using this to carry a ladder on the cross bars? The long ladder beams are long and I am wondering if the foam cuouts are large enough to cover them. ?

As the foam blocks move along the crossbars, a variety of widths can be accommodated, and the foam allows the item to securely settle into place once it is locked The blocks were not intended to be used for other items than Canoes, so that it has not been reported if it works securely with items other than them.

Is there a strap included with this product?

A canoe carrier comes with all the straps necessary, including those that attach the canoe to the bumpers at the front and rear. It has been a great vehicle for us to carry the canoe on numerous occasions now, and it is very easy to install and use.

Good stuff is made by them
5/5

The car I used to have is no longer with me. When I was in my 20's, I had a Yakima roof rack. Good stuff is made by them. The canoe that I have continues to be my primary mode of transportation, rather than a car. Buying this so that I can hook it up to my canoe if I'm given a ride to a nearby river by someone who does not have an I have used one of these on a 2000 Ford Taurus, and I found that it worked just fine for short hauls. A roof rack is needed for long hauls, but these work just fine for short hauls. There was a slight slope in the roof, but I made some decent ties It is crucial to put down anchors on the end lines. A year is not necessary if you aren't a year-old A great way to get a very cheap paddle instead of buying a $300+ paddle There is a rack for paddling that costs $400. Make sure that everything is correct and recheck You should check your straps if you will be traveling for more than an hour or when it is raining. There is no need for me to stay. Taking a paddle.

This is so great
5/5

It is safer and easier to tie the canoe down than just tying it to a tree. You will begin to use it without even thinking about it after the first or second time. Having something to tie it to up front is a good idea. When the straps come into contact with the paint on your hood, they can.

A great package for the price
5/5

Great package for the price. The straps are good quality and solid. I did not slip while driving at highway speeds for two, six-hour trips.

Not great, but not awful either
3/5

It is nice that you have a collection of straps, but the foam blocks that cover the cross beams are soft and degrade too If you are going to use cross beams, you should buy a pool noodle and cut sections from it.

Photo taken at the wrong time
3/5

According to the picture posted, there were only 4 foam blocks to buy, which was what I needed, and for over $30 I was sure the material and strength must be special. As it turns out, the order also includes a bag and 5 nylon belts that are a metric inch wide Two pieces are longer and stronger to secure the canoe to the roof of your vehicle, while the other four are lighter and designed to attach the bow and stern of the canoe Don't let the photo fool you and be aware of what you will receive. It appears that the foam blocks are OK, but the belts aren't what I was looking for. In fact, I spent an extra $13 at Home Depot for much better fastening solutions.

Is effective at what it does
5/5

The foam blocks are simple and straight forward, and the straps are just a matter of making it fit. For those who complain about the fit, you just need to use the straps.

If you can lift the canoe over your head, this is a great product
4/5

My husband and I were able to easily get to the nearby lake and back. I am very pleased with this purchase. However, how heavy our canoe feels when we lift it over our heads to load it on top of the van seems to be a different story. Additionally, the blocks twist off the gunwales if we try to walk the canoe up to the middle of the roof while resting it on the blocks. When you are confident that you will move your canoe this way, and if the canoe is able to remain several inches above the roof until it is in the center, the product I recommend is ideal.
