Yes, I agree! There are universal mounting hardware options, and the SweetRoll fits Yakima round, square, factory and aerodynamic bar designs.
A couple of years ago I bought a Yakima Dry Dock and mounted it to it. It was reported by one earlier reviewer that he had filed down the plastic inserts to make his round crossbar more secure, and I was prepared to do that, but it did not need to be done. So far, I haven't had any issues mounting my kayak without the cradles rotating on the crossbar that measures 1 1/8 inches in diameter.

In the past, I used J cradles, but found them so difficult to load by myself that I was kayaking less than I liked. It was difficult to lift my 12-pound kayak after a long paddle In spite of being fairly strong, I had trouble standing on a stepladder whilst doing the foot yak. product, I don't mind going for a quick paddle after work because it requires way less effort and so is so very easy to use. In addition, I bought a Sherpak roller from Sherpak to protect my car and make loading easier. In addition, it was easy to install, seems secure, and I have been driving on the highway for hours without a problem. My straps were too long and kept tangling. When I was using a foam block set (55lbs, Daggar Axis 12) it was very hard to slide the kayak (55lbs, foam block set). The foam blocks should have a height of zero. It was really easy to install the sweet roll on my cross bars and it made loading my kayak by myself a cinch. I am a 58 year old female who is only 5'3" in height, and I am able to load my 50 pound kayak on my Outback without difficulty. The game has changed!.
It's not easy for them to clamp to a round or square roof rack. With the round Yakima Rail Grab bars, they do not work well. For the round bars, there is a clamshell adapter. Although you can tighten them as much as you like, the sides of the kayak will continue to rotate during loading and transportation (which is very easy). After returning the Yakima round bars, I purchased a Thule cross-road rack, but the SweetRolls still moved around, so I needed to add a rubber mat to the bar and clamp them to keep them in place. There is far too much rounding on the corners of the Thule bar and it will not make a good fit instead just a point contact. It will still cause the SweetRoll to rotate but not as much as the round Yakima Keeping the SweelRoll from rotating is created by clamping it around the square bar and mat. The mat will fill in any gaps and form a mechanical fit on all 4 sides. You don't have to use any tools to attach the paddle pads to your rack, but they would be better left on your roof rack if you aren't transporting your kayak since it takes a lot of time to align the pads for one As I wanted my kayaks to be protected, I chose these to carry my car into my garage without having to remove I like them best when they are upright (mine are 50 pounds) because it's easier to load and they act as a giant wind sail when they are standing up on their sides. It has happened to me recently that some kayaks have come loose when standing up that way during transport. I am pretty sure that my kayak pads are my favorites. They are my go-to method of loading an 18' ling kayak onto a jeep wrangler 3 times a week. As the Jeep is quite tall, it shouldn't be too challenging to load such a big kayak from the sides. The Jeep has some good rolls that make loading a kayak easy. The first set I ordered for my wife's kayak has been so well received, that I just ordered the second set. Having my aero bars clamped on the wheels means I don't have to worry about them twisting on the bars, but I can see how it could cause trouble if you have round cross bars and don't clamp them down tight enough. In common with another reviewer, I noticed that because the keel on my racing kayak is so long and skinny, I often rub the front part of it on the crossbar before I reach an area that is fat enough to engage the rollers. Normally I would love to have a center roller to reduce this issue, but since there isn't one, I recently heated up a piece of plastic kitchen cutting board, bent into a curve, and zip-tied it across the rear saddle bar. The keel is given a nice smooth "ramp" for to slide on as I start it up.
