Questions & Answers

Is it possible to alter the pin height?

An Allen wrench is required to remove and replace the pins. 5mm - Alternative pin sizes and spacers are not included in the box. The pins are already in place.

What is the height of the pin? Is this something that can be changed? Is the height of the pin a problem for you? Will it gnaw at skateboard boots? thanks! ?

Skate shoes are what I use when I ride. That is why these pedals were purchased. I like them, but I'm not sure if the pin height can be adjusted.

Will they be able to accommodate pedal straps?

Yes, thin pedal straps would fit, but the removable pins would have to be removed.

Will a specialized stump jumper be able to fit in?

My bike is a Giant Anthem XS, and many different bike manufacturers use the same crank sets. Components from both Specialized and Giant are identical. Your crank set will undoubtedly be compatible with the Race Face. They are fantastic!

After three rides, the pedals on the crank snapped off
3/5

Spend a little more on Shimano pedals. I bought these pedals for my electric bike about five months ago; they were extremely grippy, and I liked them so much that I bought a second pair. For commuting, I mounted the second pair on my road bike. I was riding back from a friend's house last night when the pedal broke and literally fell off while riding. Because this is extremely dangerous and I could have been injured, I'm returning these and replacing them with Shimano pedals.

These pedals aren't bad, but there are four reasons why I won't be using them
3/5

These pedals appear to be well-made, with smooth-spinning pedal bearings. They are extremely light, weighing only 366 grams for the pair. However, after four days of riding these pedals on the Kokopelli Trail, I've decided they're not for me. The following are the four reasons for this: 1) The pins on these pedals are extremely sharp and protrude by 0. 20". It's a bad day when one of these pedals hits your shin. A bloody shin strike by these pedals was the most painful thing I've had in the last 90 days. br>2) On bumpy terrain, even with the long pins, my feet struggle to stay on the pedals. I ride a Surly ECR with no front or rear shocks and a 29-inch wheel size. 0 tires. My feet bounce off the pedals far too easily when riding over rocky terrain at high speeds. br>3) On long rides, my feet hurt because the pedal spindle bears all of the weight. Because the platform is so large, the front and rear bars are unable to effectively bear any weight. br>4) My shoes' soles are torn up by the long pins on the pedals. br>These pedals aren't bad, but they're not for me.

Affordably priced, well-made, and comfortable to hold - So far, everything has gone well
5/5

On a 2017 Kona Lava Dome, I finally swapped out the factory pedals for Chesters. The 3ish hours I spent on them this weekend gave me very positive first impressions. The pedals appear to be well-made and provide significantly more grip than my previous pedals. I weigh around 140 pounds and wear Vans Sk8-Hi sneakers. Hi Pros (gum sole), and I primarily ride single-track. Wisconsin has a racetrack. Throughout the pump track and on the trails, my feet felt secure. My stroke appeared to be more effective than the previous one. The few short climbs felt much easier because I was able to power through a larger portion of the rotation, begin the push with a forward motion earlier, and pull through the bottom for longer. It wasn't the muddiest ride, but they shed mud without the need for a stick to clean them out; some sections were a little wet, but I didn't notice any impact; it wasn't the muddiest ride, but they shed mud without the need for a stick to clean them out; it wasn't the muddiest ride, but they did shed mud without the need for They were just as simple to put together as any other pedal. br>br> Because I was too lazy to go get a 15mm and I didn't have a pedal wrench, I used a crescent wrench that was probably too wide. One side (as with every other pedal) is reverse threaded. It took about 20 minutes, mostly due to the fact that I had to refill my coffee. br>br>I can't say much about durability other than they didn't snap off on the first ride, but there's bound to be someone who can break them - I don't think I'll ever be able to do so. There are some lighter options available, but I'd wager that if you're thinking about spending more to save 50-100 dollars, you're going to go with the more expensive option. You're not looking at platform pedals if you're 100 grams. ***Update**

b half of the time on single track. They continue to make me happy. The pedals shed mud well and have kept me feeling safe on the bike. I have had no problems with them and would recommend them to anyone.

Pedals that strike a good balance between (low) cost, durability, and ease of use
5/5

I've been riding with these pedals for over a year, and the balance of durability and performance is unbeatable for the price, especially when they're on sale. I'm a size 11 shoe, and the width is ideal for my frame - I've only had a couple of pedal strikes with these pedals (I frequently ride very rocky and technical trails in my area), and they still look brand new aside from a few minor scratches. If you're wearing shoes with a sticky sole (e. g. , Converse All-Stars), you'll want to avoid this. These pedals will stick phenomenally well to the circular shape of the pins (e. g. , the Five Ten Contact MTB shoes). The pedals are also very easy to maintain, and while they aren't the lightest option, it's difficult to beat what you get for the money, especially with only minor material and feature upgrades. As many others have stated, if you're looking for a long-lasting, high-quality product, look no further. Look no further if you're looking for a high-performing set of pedals at a reasonable price.

Chesters are one of my favorite breeds of dog
5/5

I installed these MTB pedals on my city bike and am very pleased with them. They could be mistaken for low-cost plastic pedals by a casual observer. br>br>Application: br>br>Application: br>application: application: The platforms' dimensions are ideal, and they're comfortable to walk on. They're extremely grippy, and your feet almost feel like they're being held in place. They're also quite light, weighing in at a fraction of the weight of the metal ones they replaced. All in all, it's a lot of fun to ride around on.

After 20 years of riding clipless pedals, I decided to give platform pedals a try on my new Roscoe trail bike, and I'm very pleased with the Chester pedals after 50 miles of rocky trail
5/5

They're just wide enough to provide plenty of support without getting in the way or taking extra hits from the rocks. I have yet to fall off the pedals, which was a major concern when I first switched to clipless pedals. They appear to be well-made, light in weight, and have excellent grip. All of the reviews I've read state that they can withstand rock hits without breaking, so we'll see. They're great for the price, and I'm glad I tried them.

The traction on your feet is insane
5/5

There are a lot of spikes! The grip is insanely tight. On each, I backed them out three turns. I didn't have any stripped nut holders like the others, but I'm a professional mechanic, so it's possible that it wasn't due to user error on my part. I'd recommend adjusting the screws before your first ride, as damaged threads and stripped nut holders are more likely after that. If you come into contact with these, they will scrape the crap out of your shins.
