Questions & Answers
The ones I got don't appear to be authentic:
- No original packaging or branding is present.br>- There were no shims in the room.br>- A hex key was included, which worked for the original CB screws that came with the cleats I wanted to replace on my shoes. It didn't work with the screws that came with the package because they were for a much smaller hex key and looked weird, so I used some old screws I had on hand.
- They appear to be accurate replicas, but they have an odd feel to them, which could be due to my forgetfulness about how new cleats feel.
If you paid approximately 18 dollars - If you paid around $6 for them, they are most likely genuine. They're a rip-off. The Chinese cleats are fine, but they are extremely tight, which could be hazardous.
These are Crank Bros cleats that have been packaged for international distribution (Japan). The seller obtained a quantity for whatever reason and is selling them in the United States; they are OEM products.
Thank you Jj for the universal fit and shims.
Selected User Reviews For Crankbrothers Premium Bike Cleats
I have an old pair of Eggbeater 1 pedals that I've cherished for years. They're a little rusted now, but they still work fine. The cleats that came with them provided excellent contact with the shoe - Between the pedal wings and the shoe's sole, there is no extra space. My good old cleats, on the other hand, have worn out (due to too much walking). So, I got a new pair of cleats. Despite the fact that Crank Brothers claims they're compatible with Eggbeater pedals (but doesn't specify which models), these cleats appear to provide more space between the pedal and the shoe. As a result, the connection to the pedal is sloppy. The EB 2 pedals, I see, have "contact sleeves" to solve this problem, but the EB 1 pedals do not. I'd appreciate it if anyone could come up with a solution.
These are the best cleats for Crank Brothers pedals, but they wear out quickly and should be shipped with the stainless shoe shields.
My shoe became stuck to the pedal after it broke. I would not suggest it. My other shoe, fortunately, did not become stuck - So, with my foot out of the shoe, I was able to dismount my bike. and pry it away from the pedal It was an unusual and novel experience. If you're looking for a new/unique experience, this is the place to go. Put these to the test! In any case. . . Perhaps not.
They perform admirably. On this bike, I can go as fast as I can on my other road bike, which has look peddles. When I want them to, they clip in and out. The brass scratches easily, which is understandable given that it is brass beneath a person's feet. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and plan to purchase more in the future. Other people have reported having problems with cheaper versions of these that aren't right or left specific. I'm not sure if it would make a difference on my peddles, but I can say that I haven't had any issues with these, so it's worth the extra money. I'm very pleased with my purchase; it's better to pay a little more for the right part than to save money and buy headache medicine because of problems.
These are a seasonal replacement item if you have Crank Brothers pedals. They get a low "Durability" rating because they're designed to wear out faster than the steel parts of the pedals (otherwise, you'd have to replace the whole pedal). As a result, they are replaced, and your pedals can last a long time, as new cleats allow for a much smoother pedal release.
My first experience with clipless pedals was with these. They have a strong hold on me. I tried some Shimano pedals and cleats, which caused the problem. These have a strong grip on the pedals and require a healthy twist to unlock. I've discovered the joys of not getting clipped out in time and ending up with raspberries on my knees and elbows on several occasions. On the plus side, once you've mastered these, the Shimanos will be a breeze!.
Long and short screws are listed in the manual as being included. Not. Only the long screws remained, which I was unable to use. Fortunately, the short screws that came with my rusted non-replaceable parts were still in good shape. Because my premium cleats had not completely worn out over the years, I was able to reuse them. That's the end of the "premium cleats" argument. One star has been deducted. They do, however, work as advertised once they are installed. And yes, I am a die-hard CB supporter.
They are easily scratched or gouged by walking on the pavement. Any cleats would be scratched by asphalt, but given how worn out they were after only a few uses, it wasn't a big deal. There are two of them. Before they were so badly gouged up, it seems like I should have gotten a few more uses out of them. However, I reduced my use of them because I disliked the eggbeater-style pedals.
