Questions & Answers

Is this the option with the 10 degree release and 6 degree float, as well as shoe shields?

The shields have no effect on the release angle. In fact, by reducing friction between the pedal bail and the shoe's sole, they're likely to make release a little easier.

Is this the option with the 10 degree release and 6 degree float, as well as shoe shields?

Yes. The release angle is unaffected by the Shoe Shields. The type of cleat on each shoe determines this.

Selected User Reviews For Crankbrothers MTB Shoe Shields

One of the top five things you can do to make your ride better! I must confess that I only purchased these after watching a video review of the top 5 or top 10 things you can do to improve your riding/bike, and the Crank Brothers bike shoe shield was near the top of the list
5/5

I purchased two packs, assuming that one of them would include a metal shield and a spacer pad. br>br>I was pleasantly surprised to discover that one pack included two metal shields (as shown in the photos) as well as instructions. I decided to replace my cleats at the same time because the cleat grub screws did not appear to be threading in properly. I was, unfortunately, mistaken. They ", as the Crankbrothers put it. won't obstruct your installation "br>br>I use TIME ATAC cleats, TIME MX4 pedals, and some older TIME ATAC pedals. These cleats, shoes/boots, and pedals all work well with the crankbrothers. It's almost as if you're clipped on and floating at the same time, with super easy side-to-side movement. Access to the clip is exceptional, and the release is simple. I'm extremely happy. You should not hesitate to invest in an improvement for the money. Only the two metal spacers are included in the pack. The cleats and hardware had to be bought separately. Now I have a spare set in my bike toolbox that I bought new. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful product!! Three out of five stars. john br>john br>john br>john br>john br>john.

However, they work well with SPDs and other shoes as well
5/5

Most of my hiking shoes have these on them. They're essential for Crankbrothers or ATAC pedals with plastic or carbon soles that eat into the shoe over time, causing slack. In the future, you'll be able to adjust your pedal interface less and less. However, they work well with SPDs and other shoes as well. They shield the same area from dings and intonations caused by the pedals or rocks, and they also spread out the clamping force of the cleat bolts, allowing it to stay in place a little better. Because the carbon resin on some of my Sidis was soft enough for the SPD teeth to slide through, they couldn't keep cleats in place. That problem was resolved with the help of these plates.

Shoes that have been worn or that are more than a few years old are not permitted
3/5

These were purchased to replace plates that had worn through completely, as well as the cleat. The sole is about 2-inches thick, and the shoe now only bears the cleat and shield. On both sides of the wing, 3mm above the pedal. My knees are being strained as the shoe rocks back and forth. To bridge the gap, I used Gorilla tape on the pedals, but it's too squishy to climb with. After a few rides, it has also displaced. I purchased CB's plastic spacers for the pedals, but even the thickest one is insufficient to bridge the gap. And one of the bikes has SL pedals, which have a square body and are not compatible with their spacers. br>I suppose the purpose of these is to protect brand-new shoes. I'm upset because I really like these shoes, but they're no longer in production, and new shoes are so expensive.

Any Two Bolt Shoe (Crank Bros, SPD, TIME, etc
5/5

) will work with this. These were purchased prior to the purchase of clipless pedals. They remained dormant until I was able to purchase shoes. I have a pair of Chrome shoes with some classic TIME ATAC pedals that I haven't used in a long time. For me, the system is flawless. To engage, I simply hook the first top of the cleat and step into it. While doing so, I can feel the shield catch. It's not a huge deal. If it were an issue, I believe you could grind down the top of the shield's edge to make the transition from shoe to shield smoother, but this isn't necessary. It might be worth it if you're looking for small gains. I haven't tried this setup with any of the other two bolt clipless systems, but so far I'm happy with it. This was done on a road bike that was intended for short trips of less than 20 miles.

Worked perfectly, resolving the operational whoes in the "Egg Beater" concept while causing damage to customers' expensive riding shoes! " They appear to be designed to allow these protrusions on the bottom side of the bronze cleat to engage the sole of the shoe, thus effectively resisting cleat rotation while "Stepping. " That's a good thing, whether you're in or out. The material is thicker and more wear resistant than most shims on the market today. Note! br>br> I've only ever used this style of pedal. I had no idea that the "Spring" Contacts, which are the inner four contacts of the pedals' engaging ability, had damaged the soles of all my SIDI shoes. Crank Brothers, I would have thought, would have provided these metal shields years ago to protect their customers' expensive riding shoes' soles. The new "paddle" "Candy" type of pedals may reduce the nature of the clamping action and the "Egg Beater" hot spot to the rider. However, without installing the "Crank Brothers Candy Tread Contact Sleeves," which tend to crack when installed on the shaft end of the pedal, the clearance gap between the shoes sole and the flat surfaces of the paddle type of pedal may eventually widen, causing the hot spot to reappear. Because the "Egg Beater" design, in comparison to other pedals on the market today, where shoe wear may not have a negative impact on comfort and thus relieve the propensity for "Hot Spot" due to wider shoe contact surfaces, is "nearly" impacted by "Shoe Wear. " I'm curious if Crank Brothers will ever scrap or redesign the "Egg Beater" pedal to reduce the amount of damage it causes to its customers' shoes. I'm also curious if this company is willing to compensate customers whose shoes have been damaged over time.

Bike shoe saver is a device that allows you to save your shoes while riding your These go under your bike cleats to protect the sole of your shoe around the cleat, which can get scarred from clipping and unclipping
5/5

Given how expensive bike shoes are, I'm all for anything that can help me extend the life of my shoes, and these are only $8. In my opinion, it is well worth the money.

Good protection for your shoes
4/5

Cliets should be included in the package. Crank Brothers are the pedals I use on my mountain bike. Eggbeaters are most commonly used. These shields are effective at protecting shoes from the wear and tear that comes with clipping in and out of Crank Brothers pedals. I purchase them whenever I purchase a pair of cliets. The shields should be packaged with the cliets by Crank Brothers. The plastic shims that come with the cliets have never been used. These are extremely beneficial.
