Questions & Answers

How high should the Rack be installed?

Mine was about 6 feet 8 inches off the ground when I put it up. This allowed me to make use of the space beneath the bikes while still being able to easily get them down. I am a 60-year-old woman who was able to install it and add and remove bikes on my own.

Is it possible to adjust the location of the wall mounts so that they rest on the studs?

Yes, it is capable of adjusting its landing to the studs.

Will the wheels be damaged or warped if I leave bikes on the rack for an extended period of time due to the weight of the bike pulling on the rim?

Yes, depending on how long the bike is, how heavy it is, and what material the rims are made of. If you're talking about the winter, I wouldn't be concerned, but if you're talking about a year or more, I'd be concerned.

Is there any swaying of the bikes?

They might sway if pushed hard enough, but I have four bikes hanging securely without any problems. Material is of excellent quality and is of a thick gauge.

It's a sturdy bike rack that's simple to set up
5/5

I was considering the popular wall rack at first, but reviews indicated that it had flaws, the most serious of which was that the hooks were not securely fastened, and I needed it to be safe for the kids to use. Instead, I took a chance on the Omni, despite the fact that there were only a few reviews available. I'm glad I did; the Omni's build quality is excellent, and they clearly heeded the criticisms of that popular Amazon wall storage rack. The bike hooks are adjustable but secure with a pin, making it easy to secure the bike even when navigating handlebars and other obstacles. Others fold and/or slide, making the process more difficult. The pins go all the way through both ends of the bar, securing the beefy hook bracket firmly in place - There's no danger of getting hooked. A free bicycle will be delivered. They also include lag bolts for mounting the brackets, making the whole thing feel pretty solid. br>br>At first, the setup was simple. The only problem I had was deciding on a mounting height for the rack, and the instructions provided no assistance. I began by testing one teen hybrid and one adult MTN at a bar height of 64" and completed the rack in about 15 minutes. One of the adult hybrids was too long (and that was the only outlier) when loading up the four bikes intended for the rack. I ended up raising the bar to 66", but I was able to keep the rack together by simply moving the bottom screw to the top hole location - As a result, I didn't have to re-write anything. level. br>br>I have four bikes (which is all I need right now), and they all fit with the top tire up. The bike frame size and handlebar style have a big impact on how the bikes fit. I may be able to squeeze another in, or I may have to rear wheel one or two of the bikes to get them comfortable.

Strong, simple to assemble, and holds up to five adult bicycles
5/5

This rack was simple to set up and adjust; it's a tight fit, but I was able to fit 5 adult-sized bikes on it by alternating the orientation of each neighboring bike; however, as others have mentioned, I wish it had been a little longer so things weren't so cramped. However, if you're not using all five hooks, you should be fine. br>br>I mounted mine 76 inches off the ground to allow for sweeping, shoe storage, and other activities. My garage was recently finished, so I didn't want the bike's tires to scratch the freshly painted walls. That is one of the design's flaws - Both tires are firmly planted against the wall. However, by painting two trim boards where the tires would otherwise meet the wall, the problem was easily solved. Overall, I'm pleased with the design's simplicity while maintaining its strength.

The place appears to be clean
5/5

It is very simple to set up. I'm not sure how well it would hold more than three people, but it appears to be well constructed. It appears to be far superior to anything I've seen previously. On my walls, I used four strips of 4" wide tread tape to keep the tires from leaving marks and the anti-skid. Slip brings the shift to a halt.

More bike space is required
3/5

Great product and idea; it's very durable and can hold up to five bikes, as advertised. br>br>Here's what I'd like to say: Why not make it a longer mounting rod so that the bikes don't get tangled up? There won't be enough space because the bikes will be stacked one after the other. Handlebars are tangled on the second bike, causing a tangle. br>It's a bit of a mess because kids can't get their bike off the rack without yanking all the others.

Excellent rack; however, mountain bikes require more width
4/5

A little more width would have made a big difference. I would have given 5 stars if the width had been 60 inches rather than 46 inches. The unit is extremely durable, and the price is reasonable considering what you get - There are no other racks that can hold FIVE bikes for this price. If you only own road bikes with narrow (drop) bars, this width is ideal. Every other bike should be hung with the bars raised or lowered so that they do not interfere with one another. However, I have a number of mountain and touring bikes with very wide bars that clearly interfere with one another, even when mounted with every other bar facing the same way up or down. Because there would be more distance between hooks and I wouldn't have to disentangle the bike I wanted to retrieve from a nest of handlebars from adjacent hanging bikes if the main rack bar had been 60" wide instead of 46", hanging (and especially retrieving) mountain bikes would have been a lot easier. However, the quality and durability are exceptional. For my ten bikes, I purchased two units. The adjustable hooks are a fantastic feature, and I made some extra room for my favorite bikes to make retrieving them easier. The hooks worked on all of my bikes, from a 20" wheel folder to a mid-size mountain bike. fat 27. A 5 mtb wheel is a wheel that is designed to be used for mountain biking. br>I used 1/4" x 1-1/2" screws to secure the rack to a concrete block wall. TAPCON concrete screws, 1/4" To drill the holes, you'll need a hammer drill with a 3/16" masonry bit. The depth is 3/4". Before installing the anchors with a 5/16" socket, make sure to blow out the dust from each hole. I had to contact Store Your Board a few times before purchasing to find out their lag screw diameter and whether or not the rack could be mounted to a block wall. This information should be made public by the SYB company - If they did, they'd sell more product. br>Of the two units I purchased, one was perfect; the other's main rack bar was too tight a fit into the square holes in the brackets, and I had to lightly file those holes because the black coating made the fit way too tight for the main bar to slide in. br>Another detail missing from the SYB instructions was the height at which the rack should be mounted on the wall. This is a non-returnable item. The hooks engage the wheel near the axle, but the bike hangs somewhere above the axle, which is not clear. When the wheel is hooked, the bike will sag slightly. I had to remount my entire rack because, despite multiple measurements and estimates, I did not allow enough "sag" to keep my longer bikes off the floor. Here's what I found out the hard way! Place your tallest bike perpendicular to a wall with the front wheel touching to determine the minimum height for the rack bar. Mark the floor three or four inches beyond the longest part of the bike's rear as seen from the top down. The height of the rack above the floor should be a MINIMUM of this length (measured from the hook center, which is also the center of the main rack bar) should be a MINIMUM of The following were my dimensions: The bike with the longest wheelbase allows for more space in the back - 75 inches in length The height of the rack bar hooks in the center above the floor is - 69 inches in length. My longest bike was about three inches off the ground as a result, and my shorter road bikes were even higher. If you want more space underneath your bikes, raise the rack bar height. If SYB had included how to find the height above the floor, which I had to learn the hard way through trial and error, I would have given the Easy To Install five stars. br>In general, if you have a lot of bikes, this rack is the best value. It would be ideal for mountain bikes and road bikes if SYB offered a longer 60-inch rack bar.

The cotter pins to hold the hooks to the frame were well thought out, and the design was well executed
5/5

Simple to set up. It's easiest to hold five bikes if you alternate hooking the first bike's front wheel with the next bike's rear wheel, and so on. It was large enough to accommodate all five of my families, which numbered in the teens. No issues with mountain bikes with a 17" frame.
