It had broken and was posing a threat
3/5

I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially when it comes to Park, because I think their products are generally excellent. This one, on the other hand, had broken and was potentially dangerous. About a month ago, I finished this. I used it several times because the instructions were fairly clear and it appeared to work well. I was lubricating the chain on my brother's bike today when it all went wrong, sending the bike and the top of the stand crashing down on top of me and throwing me to the ground. The top and bottom tubes were held together in place by a plastic piece that had completely sheared away. The stand is now almost unusable (it holds the bike extremely low), but it scared the hell out of me and was only a few inches away from being extremely dangerous. I'll make a few points/questions because I'm sure they'll come up: The bike wasn't that heavy, to begin with. It's nothing more than a regular adult steel bicycle. It's not exactly light, but it's not out of the ordinary either. No, I wasn't yanking on it or pressing my weight against it; I had the chain in a sloppy grip. Because I'm tall, the stand was set fairly high, but not excessively so (I'm only 6'1 and it was actually set too low for me). Is it possible that I messed up the assembly? Yes, that is possible; All I can say is that I'm a smart guy who's built his fair share of IKEA furniture, and this seemed to only go together one way, and it worked for over a month before failing. Even if it is "my fault," I would argue that creating a product that can be put together in a way that appears to be correct but is essentially a ticking time bomb is not safe. br>br>Do not purchase this product; it is hazardous.

Better than other low-cost stands in terms of design
5/5

I was the proud owner of the number one spot. For the past 5 years, I've been rating stands on Amazon. It goes by a few different names, but it's all gold aluminum. It worked well enough, but it was poorly designed. This Park concession stand is fantastic. Clamping the seatpost with a simple screw is effective. Even droppers can be used with any type of post. It also isn't difficult. Longer and more stable legs. It was getting a good workout as I was removing bottom brackets and cranks. adore park equipment- except for their brushes, which are used to clean bicycles. That's the only negative experience I've had with Park.

Foldable and sturdy stand
5/5

In New England, I ride my bike to work throughout the year, in all kinds of weather. I go through a lot of parts on my bikes, and I enjoy repairing them as much as I enjoy riding them. For years, I've been indexing my derailleurs with a 2x4 clamped to a porch or table, and the other end resting beneath the seat. I finally decided to buy a stand; I'd been eyeing the park tool stands for a few years, but they were massive and clearly more suited to a shop. I decided to buy this model for the home mechanic because it was cheaper. Because I don't have a lot of space at home, this folds up easily for storage. In about half the time it normally takes me, I installed a new wheelset on one of the bikes, adjusted the drivetrain for a different cassette, and cleaned up. It's simple to put together and adjust, and it securely holds the bike. I can't think of anything negative to say about it.

Heavy bikes are not recommended
3/5

The claim of an 80-pound weight limit is dubious. Yes, the stand supported my 50-pound electric bike, but the lower clamp slips and the legs buckle as soon as I start working on it, manipulating it and shifting weight. I tightened the clamp beyond the recommended tightness, but it still failed in normal use. Because I will only need to fold the stand once in a while, I may drill and pin the tubes together.

Okay, repair the stand, but don't get wet
3/5

Overall, this is a great product; the stand does a great job of holding and repairing bikes, as one would expect from a $180 bike repair stand; however, DO NOT WASH YOUR BIKE WHILE IT IS IN THIS STAND. Water seeps into the bottom tubes, causing them to rust internally. This disappoints me greatly because I had hoped that Park Tool would have a solution to this issue. Come on, at the very least, have a method of draining the water from the bottom. I'm glad I caught it early enough, but now I just have to hope for the best. It says nowhere not to get it wet, so I'm hoping for the best.
