Hello! I chose this unit over the tripod units because I didn't want to take up any floor space in my garage. I had limited space behind the bike for adjusting and working when I fastened my hybrid commuter bike to the clamp. In addition, my handlebars came dangerously close to colliding with the wall. A freestanding unit would be my choice if I had to buy one again.
I'm guessing yes. using the same safety precautions as with that material (preferably only clamping the seat stem)
It all depends on how the 2x4 is held in place. I wouldn't mind using long 5/16" lag bolts on a stud wall with gypsum board if it's a stud wall with gypsum board. I have mine bolted to the garage wall studs just outside the garage door, and I simply put it up when I need it, then take it down, leaving the bolts screwed in the wall until the next time I need it. Since Spring, I've mounted and dismounted it at least 15 times. It's a great product in my opinion.
I've had no problems with it because it's made of plastic. I suppose if you're not careful, you could lose your teeth, but that's unlikely. It was today that I rode my bicycle on it.

The plastic teeth (called a Spline interface) that allow the bike to pivot vertically will wear out and round over after 150 cycles. (If the teeth were even low-grade steel, this would not be the case, and the manufacturer would most likely have similar production costs, keeping the price in line. ) The manufacturer should look into this option. In a nutshell, the Rounded over spline and subsequent loose head unit will eventually allow the bike to rock up and down while clamped. I'm a mechanical engineer who looks for quality and durability in everything I buy, and the Bikehand wall mount bike rack has impressed me. It's just as good as it appears in the Amazon ad, in my opinion. I used two long lag screws and stainless washers to secure it to the outside of the doorjamb of my garage door (a very solid location). I didn't cling to it, but it appears to be capable of supporting a load of 200 pounds, so I'm confident it will support my 18-pound load. lb bike, and it will withstand any cleaning or servicing forces I apply to it. I tried the clamps in various positions and on various parts of the bike, and they provide me with convenient access to whatever I need. After cleaning, adjusting, and lubing my bike, I removed the rack and reinstalled the lag screws in the door jamb to prevent the black base arm from protruding as a hazard and for aesthetic reasons, which took about two minutes. I'll simply re-bolt it to the wall the next time I use it. If you plan to use it frequently, I assume you'll want to mount it somewhere permanent, but for now, this works fine for me. I doubt I could find a more solid, stable, and stowable bike stand for anywhere near the price I paid; very pleased.
I needed a sturdy stand that could support both ebikes and traditional bicycles. Despite the fact that it was intended for wall or post mounting, I created my own semi-portable support and saved hundreds of dollars over purchasing a heavy duty stand and clamp system. I'm a mechanical design engineer, and I think this is a fantastic product with excellent value.
I'm sure a well-functioning one of these would be fantastic. It appeared to be sturdy and reliable, and I was able to mount it on my garage's 4x4 post. But. The teeth on the bike wall mount were not fully disengaged when it arrived at my house. I intended to return it and replace it with a new one. Is it possible that I got a bad one at random, or is there a 5000-piece production run that went wrong? I'm not sure what I'm saying. It irritates me greatly. There aren't many choices available. In addition, the reviews were from a previous era. I went with a different bike hand product, which is likely to have the same toothy head. It had more recent reviews. The one I chose was a bikehandstand, and I'm hoping it will suffice. I gave it three stars because I believe I was the lucky recipient of a one-off quality problem rather than something more systemic.
I mounted mine to a plywood backboard and added a series of holes to the backboard that allow me to mount it using long bolts and metal brackets to an outdoor 4x6 post on my porch and remove it with a twist of a wrench, bolt it to my automotive engine stand with 4 bolts and wing nuts, and take it with me to places where I can secure it around a post. clamp the plywood piece to your workbench with a bench vise,- as I discovered works extremely well- It's held in place by a Rockwell Jawhorse. I suppose I could also mount it on a tripod base (drum stands, perhaps?). br>It can also be mounted on a wall, but I prefer being able to move it around. It's strong enough to hold all of my bikes both outside and inside. br> The value for money is unbeatable- When you consider what you get for such a low price for a regular stand (junk), it's a no-brainer. With the addition of a few dollars in brackets and bolts, you can use this in almost any way you want.
It is simple to use My bike, on the other hand, is a bit heavier, and I can see the toothed jaws separating a little under load. The lever for tightening is non-removable. I'll just have to ignore it because it's adjustable. I attached it to a short piece of 2X4 so that I can clamp it in my bench vise when needed and easily adjust the height.
I clamped it into a workbench vise and it worked perfectly for my needs without the need to permanently mount it to a wall or other surface. It's mounted on a column in my shop, and it's solid as a rock. solid. The jaws are much thicker than I expected, and the clamping action is simple and secure thanks to a cam mechanism. The material appears to be Fiberglas reinforced and is significantly more durable than regular plastic. It grabs the seat post or top tube just as well, rotates 360 degrees, and swivels side to side; for fifty dollars, I doubt you'll find a better work stand.
