Questions & Answers

Is it normal for my hips and shoulders to hit the ground when I sleep on my side? Would you like to be 5'5 and 200 pounds?

As a 6'0" and 220 pound man, I am capable of a wide variety of tasks. In fact, for someone of our weight, this pad will compress down to virtually nothing at the pressure points of the hips and shoulders when sleeping on the side. As your body weight is more widely distributed on the pad when lying on your back, it is much more comfortable. You must also take into account your personal situation to determine the level of comfort. Is the rock you're sleeping on solid at 5,000 feet above treeline? If you don't bring an air mattress, you'll regret it. What if you were lying on the soft, comfortable floor of a pine forest? You'd need to remove the branches, twigs, small rocks, and pine cones to make it so. Would you like to be on the sand of a desert? Once again, if you clean out bumpy stuff, you should have a nice night's sleep. How does it feel to be in an alpine meadow with clumpy grass? I don't think the night will go well. Yet, it is light, cheap, tough, easy to deploy, easy to pack up, and has multiple uses, including a place to sit, a windbreak, protection from hail, a frame for the pack, and a place to let your boots air dry. Even though inflatable pads offer better comfort, these pads remain popular due to their versatility, durability, and price. However, they are not nearly as comfortable as an air mattress, they are bulky and ugly outside your pack, and they can also be a real pain to assemble. When it comes to these, if you can deal with the lack of comfort and won't be out in subfreezing temperatures, they are probably the best option out there. You can also use them as floatations in water, such as ponds and streams. While not a life saving device by any means, they will keep you afloat with your body slightly submerged in water as if you were in a pool chair. It is also possible to use an air mattress to do this.

What's the temperature like when you sleep in this in My hiking trips tend to take me to Florida, so I don't need much help with sleeping hot. ?

Using this training pad, I just came back from a month of military training in Louisiana. The temperature of my bed does not bother me when I sleep warm.

Does this pad come in a particular size and weight?

A stretched roll of the fabric measures about six feet long and weighs about a pound.

One says 1 and the other says 2. Why are the r values different? The number 7 is followed by the number I found the same product at REI and it stated ?

Hey Jonathan, thanks for getting in touch with me! Each version of the Therm-O-Rater comes in two versions Camp with comfort using the ultralight Rest Z Lite foam camping pad. Versions with an R- are the "Original" versions The value 1 represents the value The New Sol version with a R-grade, and the Old Sol version with a G-grade The value of 2 is This is the Z-index There is a reflective coating on one side of Lite SOL (the "Up" side), which reflects body heat back towards the person using the pad and increases R-Value The added value is minimal, and the weight is only a little. I am impressed at how much better this Therma-Standard is than my thirty year old one In regards to the rest, I was unsure if they could improve on Tom's original design Since college, I've had lots of rest, but they took advantage of it

As I walked across the Sierras, I realized that I needed more insulation, but not necessarily more My first thought was to look into inflatable models, but the best ones are quite expensive, and I prefer rugged gear, rather than models that are prone to cactus. The multi-tool fell to the ground Back when I patched my inflatable, it was a big deal. The pros are I. 1. Because the egg carton shape of the surface interlocks as it folds, it is thinner than you might How to pack I was able to fold it quickly, and it is not difficult to bend or stuff. As a break chair, I prefer to tie it to the outside so it is easy to access. The chair is a bit wide for stuffing horizontally. The third point Putting up insulation Air pockets and better ground insulation are created as a result of the new surface. It seems to be superior to the black thermo-form foam I had previously used Rest. Read on. Take a look Getting basic green was a good decision for me. A campsite that resembles a space camp looks good and is not spoiled by those that double as rescue flags. Symbols for br>5. A durable product I have seen no signs of wear so far. As long as the folding points are properly cared for, I expect them to last for a long time. The cons are I. 1. There are no cons to be found. Although some may want it wider, others may want it thicker, I found it to be the perfect size for me. The inflatable is great for extreme cold conditions, but this is a good option for most people whose ground is cold. THE BOTTOMLINE IS An excellent pad that I can use around the house, keeps me warm on cold ground, slides into my backpack and makes a great chair for me.

The device is lightweight, inexpensive, durable, and easy to deploy

The Z-index has been used by me for a while Lited twice this year, once as an overnight trip on a mountain and once as a day hike. It was probably around 40 degrees when it got that cold. Although it isn't *that* cold, it is cold enough that lying on the ground isn't a good idea. A second trip to the mountains was a backpacking trip over four nights Aspects of appearance This is the Z-index Like the photos, the Lite has creases along the fold lines on the Egg carton supports. This is not a surprise. It is much easier to pack because it folds up instead of rolling. Though it still takes up the same amount of space, it is much easier to keep it at its "packed" form.

Value If the foam pad is Z-shaped, then it will look like this There's no way to get Lite for that little. Nevertheless, it is considerably cheaper than a pad made of inflatable material. This is the section where the rubber meets the road in terms of comfort. Sleeping on the ground is no fun at all, and I'd much prefer having this underneath me. This is the Z-index As far as insulation from the cold ground is concerned, Lite did a great job. The yawl also went on a backpacking trip of four nights. I liked it, but after sleeping on this pad for four nights, I thought an air mattress would be much more comfortable. Although it works fine, air cushions would be a much better alternative. In a nutshell, this product is recommended. It's probably a good idea for you to borrow it from a friend so you can have time to think about it before committing. The older bones definitely hate to walk on a hard surface repeatedly during the night.

PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS WHEN ORDERING! As a color option, there is coyote/grey listed in this Z- rating The lite version of the SOL listing is this color, but this is really the regular Z-range In addition to the SOL, there is a SOL lite in silver/limonite

It is the only way. It's only a 4 difference in R, but you'll want every ounce of warmth you can get if you're sleeping outside in cold weather. To replace the item that just arrived, I will need to exchange it. I love Amazon! It's time for your listing to be fixed!.

I don't feel comfortable at all
3/5

When I was a child, I loved watching these cartoons about eggs- The sleeping pads were shaped, but I do not use them any longer. I dislike the way they feel on my body they're thin, stiff, and unpleasant. My lumbar needs some kind of support, and this is like lying on a slightly padded board. It's not supportive in any way. In terms of comfort, this is a no-go. It is lightweight and insulates you from cold ground well, but as a sleeping pad I am not sure what to think about it. I returned the bed after trying to sleep on it indoors for a couple weeks without success. With an air mattress this might work, but that would be a lot of weight to carry.

In relation to the amount of warmth
5/5

I used one of these for years all four seasons in Alaska where there was minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit It is never absent from my bag when I leave home. The floor is nice to sit on, stand on, and rest on during the day for warmth from the ground, cushioning from rocky ground and will not be wet out in rain or heavy I used the Thermarest UL 3/4 air pad in conjunction with a 4" foam mattress to get the most efficient warmth I could from the cold frozen ground for one of the lightest and most efficient sleeping pads I could find at the time. Cold weather did not affect the flexibility of these foam pads, as I cannot say that about other foam pads. By using the Z folds, you can fold the pad into a smaller profile on a pack. The flat pad is also easier to fold and lay out than If not used in alpine conditions, the cups will trap moisture, which is ideal after a long hard day in snow and rain. After shaking the pad, you can see the water is gone plus the cups prevent the liquids from leaking all over the place, like your tent floor. There are many stoves that have been There is only one downside, which is the price. Foam is more than $40. Despite its weight and warmth ratio, this is an excellent product.

Craig, you don't have to lie

I'm not the first to be ripped off by therm-o-jet, since it seems a lot of people have been As for Coyote color, it is a completely separate product, and not a different color option, as indicated on the listing. Here's the latest This product is now offered by Amazon under a different name. It is my pleasure to work with My rest pad is a nice pad, not the one I wanted, but be assured that it.

Even though it isn't my perfect size, it is extremely comfortable
5/5

I just received it earlier today and I am already very impressed with it. My first step in testing it was to take it out of its packaging and lay it on the ground. From the very first moment that I wore it, I noticed that it was remarkably The problem is that my feet hang over it and my shoulders are too broad, so they touch the ground if I lay My favorite sleeping position is lying on my back, but I can keep my socks on even if I'm lying on my side. Folding it accordion style makes this an absolute breeze to pack back up when not in use. The piece also wants to fold itself and you will not encounter any issues with it. This mattress is very cheap, and what you get for that low cost is much better than sleeping on the ground, a popped inflatable on the ground, or a lesser quality mattress. While camping, I am sure to think about this more after I have slept on it for a few hours. I am still getting used to it, but so far, I'm impressed.
