This life jacket does not work for a child of any weight, according to my personal experience. Change your mind!
I started with weight and age and discovered that height plays a role as well. Her head slid through the opening and her arms reached the bottom of the arm openings because she was thin and talkative. We weren't able to use it for her, so it was given to another child.
If it is purchased for a swimming pool, it must be stated explicitly in the description.

My two-year-old (approximately 24 lbs) can wear a small life jacket. The straps and buckles have a lot of adjustability. I pulled on the grab handle on the back of the jacket after it was fitted to my child, and it ripped off with almost no effort, making me glad I wasn't trying to pull my child out of the water in an emergency. After that, I grabbed the life jacket by the shoulder areas on both sides and lifted it up to make sure nothing else on it failed. Everything stayed attached to the jacket, and the front did not ride up.
This life jacket is great; the clips work well, and the straps are easy to adjust and stay in place. My daughter is four years old, stands about four feet tall, and weighs about 45 pounds. The life jacket was a little big at first, but it was easily adjusted to fit her snugly and perfectly; she'll probably get a year or two out of it, which I appreciate. The only issue we encountered was sand, as she played in the sand on the shore after swimming in the lake. The sand got caught in the clips and zipper, making it difficult to remove her clothing. So be aware of the sand; otherwise, we enjoy it and she enjoys the feeling of security it provides. She jumped right in and swam all the way around the lake. Pink is her favorite color, so the color and print were a plus.
I would not suggest it. This vest is a good fit for my daughter. But I don't think she should use it. The vest's quality is debatable at best. When the pull strap was first used, it snapped. What concerns me the most is what else could go wrong, and what a waste of money it would be!.
This life jacket is fantastic; it arrived promptly and in like-new condition. My toddler liked it because it was comfortable, and she didn't mind the traps at all; in fact, she didn't want to take it off. It assisted her in floating on the water, but she had lost interest in wearing it.
These seemed great and appeared to be comfortable, but the zipper caused a large sore under my daughter's chin.
The swim jacket does its job. We like the idea of the bottom strap cushioning, but it has a tendency to ride up in the back and requires regular adjustments. Overall, the quality appears to be satisfactory, but not as good as the one we purchased from Costco.
Bought for my daughter, can adjust their own, the only drawback is that the bottom is not very comfortable to wear, the baby is not very like, but it is very safe, no need to worry, or good, worth the price.
