Questions & Answers

What color is it? Is it actually I cannot tell based on some of the images from stock and customers. This is a bit lighter than sage, or like it. ?

I think it is more of an olive color rather than an OD.

When Ontario Knives website does not show this to be a d2 steel blade, how does this come off as a blade advertised as a d2 steel?

I was unsure, but as stated in the description, the one I purchased has a D2 blade. The Ontario ON8867OD Rat 1 Liner lock OD knife is green in color

What is the difference between Rat1 and Rat2?

The only Rat I have is the 1 but I love smaller knives, so the 2 would be my choice

This article is just what I needed to read
5/5

I have only written one or two reviews for products in my life. Right from the start, I'm the kind of guy who, when looking to purchase a new item, the first thing I do is google "The best _______ for (and whatever the year is at the time). Because I am a frugal person, I really do not want to waste money or time. It is not even an option for me to consider a knife. For my SHTF bag I needed a new knife and a $40-80 bag. The reviews were good, but I wasn't sure if the bag could fit in this price range. The $50 was not too much to risk to give it a shot. Understanding the principles of online retail is important to me. There are some items that are overhyped and some that are just awful. However, it takes me a lot of time and effort to write a review. Knives are my favorite and I have a lot of them. I've had knives from Bar , Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. , but I have never had a knife come straight out of the box and remove the hair from That is the case with this one. It is the first knife I've purchased for literally four times the price and been so satisfied with it. I will give you that this knife does not look the best, but when it comes to form and function this one is incredible. by cmon D2 steel, I mean? In the first place, isn't that what they use to cut steel with? Despite taking the hair off my arm after I whittled 4 spears of wood to demonstrate how to slock, this knife still took the hair from This is unreal. In my opinion, if you hear something bad about this knife, it's some ninney who thinks the $250 is an insult. In some ways, the price tag I put on my first knife even though it is comparable to this one makes it seem Who of us has not witnessed rich guys buying the top-of-the-line gear and then thinking that makes them good at their hobby? A guy just decided to start saltwater fishing and buys a Penn International. A guy who just gets into bow hunting and buys a $1900 bow may also do it. A mathews 00. Let's face it, we all know this A $150 check would be appreciated. Bring him to school with a recurve rifle and spend the morning with him. If you put the right craftsman in charge, this knife will perform at least as well ( and most likely better) than any other. Being in the $40-$50 range is an indication of its value Taking it away at a price of $50 is just wrong.

I can see why D2 Steel is worth the higher price tag - It's very good
5/5

It holds an edge awesomely! It's not the same without D2 steel - this is a much better knife than before. Has an edge that is amazing- That's all right. As a member of the military, I'm proud to be able to carry this EDC knife everywhere I go. I don't want to spend hundreds This was a steal for 40 bucks, but it is worth anything up to about 55 dollars It is easy to make 60 bucks. There are no fancy "scales" (hand grips) on this weapon it's just nylon, and it's fine! I have it in both OD and Coyote flavors, and both are excellent! A bit more appealing to me is the foliage/OD green. This is why the Air Force exists! The D2 Steel Knife is Worth the Higher Price - Surprisingly awesome! It holds an edge awesomely!.

Is it really necessary to give the R1D2 another five star review? The answer is yes
5/5

Here are just a few quick and sweet words from me. In your hand. Feels good to hold. The kind of good that doesn't require thinking. In the D2, there is a kind of crispiness that I can't really describe. It's creamy. A smooth ride. It is not toothy at all. Having a knife is an ugly thing. Is this blade a sign of the end of the world? You will find the handle with " next to it. In the end, who cares because despite the ugly appearance it works so well you'll ditch your Mora, forget about your other fixed blade knives (unless you hammer and batter them), and just use this one when you're on a camping trip. Since you are capable of doing so. might be able to. If I'm honest, I do. But as a knife fanatic, I'm going to replace this knife in two years with some other "amazing" one. Let's face it, that's the way things work out.

This is the greatest beater ever
5/5

Throughout the day, I use my knife several times a day as a landscaper This knife has become my "beater" work knife I use to cut weed fabric, trim branches, open bags of material etc. It's not a showpiece but does everything a knife should do. The pad is comfortable and, at the price point, suitable for abuse (unlike knives that cost $150+). You will enjoy it, if you prefer higher end knives, but if you require a beater/work knife I will personally recommend this one. Although it isn't as cheap as Spyderco when you are actually using it, it is pretty As a result, you aren't embarrassed to make use of.

Definitely worth the money
5/5

During the course of moving, I was looking for a solid knife I could count on to pierce all the tape and cardboard that we are dealing with, and this knife exceeded my expectations in that regard.

I just wanted to mention a couple of things. It's a large pocket knife, so I have all my hands full when I'm holding it. I'm 6'2 and 215 pounds. As a matter of fact, I bought two at a time, one for my son and one for myself. This letter was sent to the attorney general, but he returned it because it was too large The next thing that matters is that it is sharp out of the box. That's a lot of sharpness. I find this knife to be sharper than any Kershaw or Boker knife I've seen in the past.
The locking mechanism is also a great feature. In the pictures, you can see that it does not just cover a corner of the blade, but extends fully behind. I ordered this gearbox (again, like others I have) and out of the box it was true and straight, so adjustments were not this is a basic knife it will not operate as an assisted knife or have spring-action, but that is not what I am The knife I wanted was a solid one that would last for a very long time, and I got what I wanted.

The knives are so damn good
5/5

The quality of this knife really impressed me! I liked it so much I ordered one in the D2 after I had played with the AUS8 for a few Opening is very smooth, and the door closes easily, too. As long as the knife is still on many top 10 knives for under 50 dollars, its popularity speaks for itself. Twenty years later, the project is still on track. As the G10 scales are a bit slippery, I would like to see them updated. It's also my choice to own a Rat 2, but I like the 1 better since it has a longer handle that allows me to grip it with 4 fingers. This knife is so sleek and has such a slim profile that it doesn't feel uncomfortable in your pocket like some of my other knives of Since I work in a meat department, I use it every day as it slices through cardboard with ease. It's the same thing when I'm throwing away expired meat packages, I easily slice through the roast. There is a chance that it.

EDC Knife
5/5

Upon opening the box, I was immediately in love with this knife. It was larger than I expected, but I wanted a large blade for every day carry, so that's a plus for me. When I ordered knives in the past, I was disappointed with how small they were. This sharp folder is easy to use, feels good in your hands, and opens easily. There is a steel liner inside the handles but they are nylon. Although it weighs a bit, it does not feel too heavy in your hands. A very high level of quality is evident in the build. The D2 steel will likely shave hair in the future, but right now we can say that it will. I will wait for time to test the pocket clip to see whether it is sturdy enough. Knives are a passion of mine, and I'm usually willing to pay a premium for a good one. Nevertheless, I have used them more than I have broken and lost more than I have gained. There is no better bargain out there for the price.
