Questions & Answers

What country did this knife come from?

I've purchased several knives from cold steel, and while they're made in Taiwan, they're just as authentic as any American-made knife, if not more so. However, because it is an American company, you are still contributing to the American economy in a small way.

Is it possible to switch the belt clip to the opposite side for left-handed carrying?

Yes, it's a powerful clip and a fantastic knife.

I'm curious about the steel. ?

the AUS- 8A is most likely one of the most capable budget steels available. I have knives made out of steels ranging from 8crmov13 to S35V. Takes a razor-sharp edge and keeps it for a long time. I think it's better than the 8crmov13 that comes standard on most budget Kershaws. The above comparison to 440 steel only holds true if the 440 is 440C, which is the only 440 series I'd consider carrying. The rest of the 440 steel is garbage (at least in my opinion, but I'm used to good steel and good coffee). You can't go wrong with any Cold Steel product, and the majority of them can be used by either left or right-handed people (I'm a lefty). They make SOLID fixed and folding knives of all kinds. Many iterations of Cold Steel were transported to other countries.

Is it the "2" or the "2"? How do I tell the difference between a 5" blade and a 5" blade on the internet?

5 inch. The Mini Tuff Lite, a 2-inch version, is not available in blue.

A Box Cutter Who Has Been Glorified
3/5

Because the majority of reviews for this knife are positive, and what has been said about it rings true to me, I'll just throw in my two cents. I bought this knife in 2017, and I've been using it on and off since then. Here's what I've discovered: Advantages: br>br> br>Small enough to fit in a pocketbr>Sheep's foot blade lends itself to cuttingbr>Easy one-handed opening With the Triad Lock, you can get a better lockup. br>Cold Steel has excellent customer service (I had to send it in for resharpening due to blade chipping on the first day of use; Cold Steel accepted my knife without hesitation and gave it a regrind, which reduced further blade problems)br>It feels great in the hand. br>The blade is less likely to chip after a regrind. br>Sharpening the blade is simple, and it maintains a good edge. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>The blade grind/material chips and nicks easily (I chipped it cutting thick cardboard boxes on the first day). When closed, it's quite wide. br>The clip is very strong and has little give, making it difficult to attach to pants with thicker pockets. Only a tip-down carry position is available. br>The blade is designed for cutting and slicing rather than piercing. br>br> I usually like CS knives, but this one disappointed me so much that I no longer carry it. It's now in my toolbox, where I use it to cut boxes and perform other light cutting tasks. In other words, it's turned into a glorified box cutter.

For the price, it's adequate, but there's a major flaw
3/5

This knife, despite its low price, has a nice feel in the hand and, as the name implies, is very lightweight. The steel isn't great, but what do you expect for a knife in the mid-twenty-dollar range? Nonetheless, it's a nice little beater knife. br>br> br>br>The key to this lock. The lock, the lock, the lock, the lock, the lock, the lock, the It's not that it doesn't lock up well or securely; on the contrary, it does so very well and securely. It has a tendency to lock up. This knife's release is far more difficult to press than it should be. This is my first of this model of knife, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be this way or if I just got a bad one, but to unlock it, you have to press down on the release hard enough to hurt your finger. I haven't attempted to disassemble the knife to see if it can be adjusted in any way, but I don't believe it can. So be forewarned - this is going to be a long one. This knife is not for people who don't have a lot of hand strength. And even if you do, there's still a chance you'll make a mistake Because of this, you may find that this knife isn't for you.

For the money, this is an excellent knife
5/5

EDC to the max. To begin, I'd like to state that I am a knife collector who collects everything from high-end customs to Swiss army knives. My everyday carry knife is a sebenza, and this thing has persuaded me that a small utility design like this can be a fantastic carry knife. br>br>Pros:
- Dimensions and weight It's so small in your pocket that you won't even notice it's there. br>- Blade shape and design is ideal for opening boxes, doing shop work, slicing rope/tape/cord/mule line, cutting trash, and so on. br>- The handle is sturdy, and the plastic appears to be of good quality.
- The triad lock system is said to be extremely effective. It hasn't closed up on me yet, so it must be quite difficult. br>- If that's important to you, it arrived on time. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
- The lock is a little clumsy at first, but it settles in nicely after a while. br>- AUS8 steel is a bit of a snoozer. If you're on the fence about whether or not to buy this knife, I strongly advise you to do so. It's a truly fantastic blade.

This knife received a 6 STAR rating from me, and I am a knife picky person! First and foremost, the construction of this knife is far superior to that of my all-metal small knife, which I purchased because it was less expensive and built twice as well
5/5

The overall grip in your hand will have you gasping for air in pure delight; it simply feels great! The weight is incredibly light, and I can't help but carry this knife every day, leaving my other, very similar all-metal knife at home. It's disappointing that a knife at this price point has a quality rating of 200. The handle is made of a special plastic type that provides a firm grip with no give. I've cut packing tapes to boxes with this two-inch blade knife, and it just keeps getting sharper! When you open the knife with one hand, it has a loud commanding snap that will get you noticed if you need to make a point, at least until they see the two-inch blade and can't stop laughing like I did and still do- hehe. In every category, the quality is excellent, and I pushed the knife to its limit without experiencing any failures. I would never have guessed that a knife with a two-inch blade, such as this one with a box type blade or a razor blade, could be so overwhelmingly great. Just remember, if you make a mistake with this blade, it's not going to be funny. ouccccch! On the other hand, I'd feel the pain that, if necessary for self-defense, it might not end everything right away, but it will serve as a serious warning to stay away from you! For right-handed people like me, the clip is ideal. A knife is only as good as the one you're carrying, and this one will be with you every day until you pass it down to your children when they grow up. Because the blade is only two inches long, it is legal to carry in all US states, including California and New York, where size does matter legally! I promise you won't be disappointed, and believe me, I'm a picky eater!.

Amazing Tool Knife at an Unbelievable Price of $25! Perfect blade centering and a completely solid lock up in all directions
5/5

That is something that many far more expensive knives cannot claim. The plastic handle isn't cheap, and the blade is razor-sharp out of the box. Cold Steel is a wacky company, but they do an excellent job with their AUS-based products. 8 steel. This has been referred to as an overbuilt box cutter, and I believe that description is correct. The wharncliffe blade excels at draw cuts in particular, earning it a perfect five-star rating.
