Questions & Answers

This clip point appears to be a Tanto point, which is not indicated on the picture?

As of yet, this hasn't been fixed! It wasn't until I saw the knife and saw that it had a clip point that I realized it. The tanto version was what I wanted.

Can you tell me how long the blade is?

The product photo shows the recon 1 both in satin finish, while the description states the product is clip-point. Would you mind telling me which one it is?

I personally own both super steels, and I am finding it hard to compare both daily. When it comes to the Cold Steel Recon 1, it is hands down the best type of knife I have ever bought. There are a number of Gs I find the material used for the 10 handle to be Now is the time to buy one! Having the chance to see it will not disappoint.

The original has been refined to a more refined version
5/5

In this review, I shall be discussing the S35VN version of the knife. The steel has been changed, and, unlike the dealer-only version, the blades are now flat and have a much more rounded shape than the earlier one. A DLC-coated S35VN model that has a satin finish, this model has a satin finish and a DLC coating. Given that I have been a fan of Cold Steel products for years, I waited far too long to try out this model - I wish I had tried it out sooner! Because it has taken everything out of my pocket, I say that. The reason I waited so long is because the earlier versions of this knife had blades that had not been sharpened all the way down to the bottom, which left about 1/8 of an inch of blade essentially unused. As you can see, the current (S35VN) version is sharpened all the way to a small sharpening notch. With its fully G10-coated handles, the knife is lighter than it would otherwise be. Despite this, it is a very robust cutting tool that I have no issues using for whatever the job at hand might entail. I also noticed that, as is common for Cold Steel pocket knives, the black pocket clip started losing small bits of paint the very first day.

Knives like these are really good
5/5

Recon 1 is a style that I was not expecting to like when I first saw it. My tanto blade is not as appealing as I would like (I think I would enjoy it more if the front was angled more- However, that is just me. There is nothing wrong with a I love the sticky texture of the G10 scales, which can feel like sandpaper if you aren't used to it, but is superb once you get used to it. The lock is very strong and the pocket clip is equally strong (they may have even added an extra pocket clip just for safety). It is probably not a surprise that Lynn Thompson (owner of Cold Steel) is one of my biggest idols when it comes to quality.

That's a nice knife
5/5

After putting it through food prep and camp chores, this is my new favorite knife. Saw this being razor sharp out of the box and it has remained that way. Own several Cold Steel knives and have always been searching for my next favorite. A little heavier in the hand than expected, but that's more of a G10 handle issue rather than a Zytel issue. Although it allows for quick deployment and easy removal, the rough texture of the G10 makes pulling it out of a pocket somewhat difficult. While I prefer a liner lock, the back lock is not weak at all. When I was slicing tomatoes for lunch the slices went through like butter, so much so that a couple stopped by to see how it was. When one guy ran his finger over the blade edge a little too hard, he cut into the meat of his thumb and has since bled. This pocket knife made short work of paracord, made feather sticks, and other things you might need to do with a pocket knife. Since my blades were sealed, I didn't have to touch up the edges after I recommend it!.

I can use EDC Beast easily
4/5

The blade of this knife is tough and powerful. This is my go-to knife As I do a good deal of work in the field, I need to take the time to do it. This knife is everything you would expect a knife to We offer strong, durable, and dependable products. The picture is definitely a beaut.

If the triad lock was more navigable, I would give it a 5 out of 5. A hard time closing the box when it comes out of the box. My first thought was that it was faulty, but upon inspection I saw that it was in perfect condition I looked on-line and saw many people recommending I rub the lock against a desk and door frame. I now have no problem opening or closing it. This might be a manufacturing issue, as the milling seems slightly off. Please don't give up on it once you have bought A lot of times, I almost gave up. It would have been a lot worse for me if I had done so. The knife I have in my possession is one of the finest production knives on the market for combat, survival, and tactical purposes.

The knife is almost a great knife
4/5

When I first received it, I would have given it a 3 out of 5 rating.
Let me start with the 1 Great looking knife. 2 The blade is very sharp straight out of the box. This is the second time I've cut myself! that I can't see from my position in the room Under normal usage, the release will be made available. There are a couple of things I didn't like about this game1, opening and closing were stiff, and 2, the lock is difficult to release unless you press it in certain ways. There are times when you can depress the blade release all the way down and it will not release. 3 When the blade is open and locked in place, there is a small rattling noise. Just to make sure I'm clear There is no movement at all in the blade, which remains A loose object is inside, that's what it sounds like. I have done some research, and it seems that Negative #1 can be at least somewhat mitigated by leaving the blade half-open for a second (or more). I will be out of the country for about one There is still some break-in that I expect from the manufacturer, but overall, this has helped smooth out the action quite a bit. Even though the lock has been fixed, it is still a little quirky sometimes when it comes to releasing the blade. It turned out to be a good purchase for me overall. If you are willing to invest some time to break in the knife and gamble on the QC of the lock, this would be a good choice.
