Questions & Answers
It comes with a built-in battery and a mounting screw jack (similar to a camera) for mounting to various feeders. I have a 30 gallon Moultrie and it mounted easily on top of it; it worked great and has always kept my feeder running smoothly.
In any weather, it will stop working after a week or two. Make sure you don't throw your money away.
The solar panel on some Moultrie products requires batteries, while others do not. Because the Hog light I had was defective, they replaced it with a camera due to a lack of availability. I never had a 6 volt power panel for cameras, only a 12 volt.
The battery is not charged when the power panel is used. The feeder is powered by a built-in battery.

If you have a Moultrie feeder, it was most likely designed for this purpose. Made had a power plug underneath the controller box rather than on the side. There's no need to worry about keeping your batteries charged or even keeping them separate. Everything is taken care of with this. The cable is shielded and the plug end is molded in rubber to create a tight seal on the feeder end. To be safe, I'll add some silicone to the area where the cable enters the battery/solar panel. It doesn't appear to be as tough as the other end, but it should be fine, and it screwed right into the top of my Moultrie Unlimited feeder. br>br>I'm sure it'll work with a lot of other feeders because the connections are standard, but running the cable might be a little more difficult without the special plug port. However, a hole drilled with a bit of silicone will suffice.
My Moultrie Pro Hunter II Feeder's power port is too small for the rubber boot on the cord to fit. It's simple to slip the boot off the end of the cord, and when I plugged it in, the battery was dead. With a history dating back to 1979, you'd think their name-brand products would have been field tested and proven. On this accessory, they must have overlooked that. If that wasn't bad enough, the item is non-returnable. In the feeder unit, I'm sticking with a rechargeable battery that lasts a long time.
PRODUCT OF GARBAGE- PROCESS OF GARBAGE RETURN- BUYING IS A MISTAKE. The button's surrounding plastic had broken off, the cable relief was loose, and the glue had failed when it arrived with a dead battery. I contacted the manufacturer's customer service department, and they confirmed that the battery was dead. When I said I'd return, they said it was fine if I did it through Amazon. THE RETURN WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ONLINE BY AMAZON. Instead, Amazon's return button WILL REDIRECT YOU TO THE MANUFACTURER! The link they provide redirects you to the manufacturer's "CONTACT US" form. There is no way to return this useless item because there is no return form. I called Amazon (it took me ten minutes to find a "contact" button) and explained my situation. The item is non-refundable, according to an Amazon representative. Can be returned! I had her confirm that the item's web page says NOWHERE that it is non-refundable, which means there is no way to return or refund it online. it is possible to return it Because it was an Amazon-shipped and-sold item, the Amazon representative agreed to refund my money, but what a painful and time-consuming ordeal!.
I called them, but they did not return my call. Also, the solar panel is supposed to fit on top of the barrel, but I can't figure out how to reconnect it. Please help.
For about a week, this was my sole source of power. It was then unplugged by raccoons. The built-in battery dies after a day and a half of no sun. On the plus side, once the sun comes up, it will reactivate using the two factory feed times. It'll just be the wrong time of day. Even with the varmint guard and tie wraps, they can still pull the power wire out, so it would be better if they found a different way to run it. I'm going to come up with a better solution.
After being charged for an entire day, it lasted 4 hours the first time I used it, and about an hour the second time. The charger is ineffective, and there is no backup battery. BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT, WORST MONEY I EVER SPENT BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT, WORST MONEY I EVER SPENT.
The unit worked well for a few months, but it really needs a metal wrap around the cord because the squirrels and chipmunks go after it and chew it up. I have an iPhone charger cable with this metal wrap, and it has lasted a long time even after a lot of use. I believe that if the cord was wrapped in metal, this product would be even better.
NO, they said! USE THE C CELL BATTERIES WITH THE POWER PANEL AT ALL TIMES. They advised me to take out the C cell batteries and operate the light solely with the power panel. Updated on December 21st, 2015! Apparently, this isn't the miraculous solution that Moultrie would have us believe. I discovered it was DEAD after being in the woods for a week. The light isn't even on. So I took it out of the box and carried it home to charge in the FULL SUN. I was only able to get two legs to show that they were partially charged. Then, after it had sat for alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll And, yes, the light was switched off. It's no surprise that my cameras haven't picked up any game. They've all fled because of this freakin' thing. Thank you so much, Moultrie! NO, I would not advise you to buy, try, or do anything with it.
