Despite the fact that you can catch fish using cheaper quality materials, I have lost some very big fish using flies tied by another person (guide) but the hooks we used were not of sufficient quality. You should use good hooks, thread, feathers, fur and feather if you want to tie quality flies. Tie a fly with the best tools that will make your life easier.
It is a gift for my brother as he is a huge fly fisherman. He says he will use it as a tool to tie his own.
For those tiny patterns, this is a great tool. A whip finisher like this one is just the thing you need for tying up This tool is exactly what I was looking for.

I am happy I bought it. Using it when working on a bunch of 18's and 19's is useful In the end (for me, at least), it definitely has a different "feel" when compared to the regular size Matarelli I've used for years.
