Questions & Answers
Due to the item's C2203- designation, I expected to find a C2203-R (R stands for right-handed). Neither L nor I did. I did, however, tie a couple of flies with my C2203-style fly tying kit. R, but with the fly on the left, to make an "L" (for left-handed). Only one adjustment knob was different, which is used after the vise has been adjusted. That knob is on the "far" side of the vertical shaft when it is reversed. Reaching over the top is still not a major issue. I spoke with a left-handed friend who ties right-handed because nearly all of the demos are performed by right-handed people. Aside from that, I don't think it's an issue. It all boils down to what you've become accustomed to and how well you've practiced.
It does not appear to be available in a left-handed version. Because most demos are performed that way, one of my acquaintances ties right handed.
3 o There is no issue

Second, the knobs appear to loosen up far too easily; the spinning handle comes loose every time I tie a fly. I've adjusted it a hundred times to get the tension just right, but it never seems to stay put. I've tried everything I can think of to get these knurled knobs to work, but it's not working. It's possible that the nylon washers are simply too slippery. Aside from that, it's a great vise; the jaws can hold any size fly you want and it won't move once you've set it. Because I mostly tie largemouth bass flies, I'm a little heavier than the average fly tier, but the vise is up to the task.
I'd been using my old vise for about 15 years, and the jaws were starting to fail, and there were no replacements. I chose the Traveler 2200 Cam Series after doing some research. It's of excellent quality, holds hooks securely, and is simple to disassemble for travel. I'm very pleased.
After reading a previous review, I was a little concerned about the Traveler's weight, but I don't think it's excessively light. It's a good vice; there are a few adjustments to make, but once they're set, everything works perfectly.
As stated previously.
Well made.
This was a present for my father on Father's Day. He is extremely pleased with it and enjoys the way it works. This is a great tool for tying flies.
This is an incredible vise. Definitely worth the money! It'll be around for a very long time.
Perfect in every way, with excellent construction and long-lasting materials, but I believe it is overpriced (as are many other fly-tying tools).
