Using this magnetic release has been the best experience ever. In the past 30 years, I have fished with the fly. You hitchhiked into some places where there are many tree branches and where weak magnets could be pulled apart and then you suddenly realize you have to retrace your steps and find that net you left behind
sometimes with your rods! The idea of doing that is not fun. Strong magnets like these are very effective at holding things in place. My old magnetic net clasp that had been in use for nearly a decade had become rusty. I bought this to replace it. Thankfully, I came across this affordable option and it looked pretty nice, so I was willing to give it a try.
