It wouldn't stick to a nylon backpack very well, in my opinion. Hard surfaces are the best option.
It comes with the package. The velcro is attached to the back on one side. The other side has an adhesive strip that must be removed before mounting to the desired surface.

It is well-designed and functional. It has a good grip on the flies, a small footprint, and fits in the space I needed. The cost is the same as it is in other locations. Even if my local store carried and had them in stock (two strikes against me), shipping is less than the Mfg website rate and well within the cost of gas for me to go to my local store. br>br>Despite not being Prime, same-day, next-day, or even two-day shipping, the Fly Dock arrived ahead of schedule and in good condition. br>br>This product is a two-piece design that provides a secure grip for flies' hooks. Silicone (or silicone-like) is used on the outside. like) a cover made up of interconnected segments, each with a rectangular well on the backside and a gap between them to allow them to manufacture the item. This is a cover that fits over a plastic frame and has rectangular pegs that fit into the cover's back wells and are spaced closer together. The cover segments are smashed together as they are fitted onto the frame, resulting in a positive interference between them. And, lo and behold, your flies are stable and well-held. br>br>The backside of the frame has adhesive tape for attaching to rigid objects (light, fly stand, car dash, dresser, monitor, etc. ). br>br>A strip of the hook side of velcro is also included in the package to attach to any velcro loop patches you may have. br>br>As a final result Make a purchase.
Fly's aren't the only ones. I really like it. br>I needed something to attach to my fishing bag so that I could carry lures (not flies) while walking along the riverbank. Something quick and simple to change out lures that I know I'll use again. br>It's been a great success. br>br>Even in the rain, the 3M used to attach it has held up well.
The rubber peeled away from the plastic backing after the first use. It doesn't matter what kind of adhesive they use; it's all garbage and shouldn't be trusted. Fortunately, it fell off at a time when I was aware of it, rather than while I was hiking. br>br>My advice is to remove all oem adhesive and superglue, gorilla glue, epoxy, and other adhesives from the plastic backer onto the green rubber and velcro onto the backer before your first use, or your first use could be your last.
The packaging implied that mine would come with a velcro strip, but mine did not. I cut velcro to size and taped it to the underside of the fly dock with 3M tape. You'll want more than one of these, just as you would potato chips.
I've put it through its paces on a dozen fishing trips and it hasn't let go of a single fly. This is something I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a temporary location to dry their flies without losing them.
Exactly what I was looking for.
