The aerator isn't as good as the box. When it's powered by batteries, it works fine, but when it's plugged in, too much air escapes from the aerator's small plug near the top. Inside the box, there is almost no air. Batteries aren't cheap, but I'll have to keep running it off of two different aerators with batteries to keep my minnows alive for longer.
Even in the sweltering heat of Florida, the bait remains cool and aerated. The rod holders are also ideal for use in a kayak. The only things I'd change are the drain plug and the option to add a battery-powered water pump. A live well would be perfect if it could have local water flowing into and out of it. A water pump hose would fit perfectly in the holes in a stand-up kayak.
When compared to other live wells, it provides excellent insulation and value. Remember, you're buying this for the rod holders, capacity, insulation, and aerator-ready design, not for the $10 aerator that comes with it. The aerator does its job, but it isn't perfect. You'd be better off spending $30 on a better one, but the other features make this a good deal even with the extra cost.
Freshness of the bait was maintained. I'm impressed with how well it keeps those thread fin shad alive. On a single set of D batteries, I was able to go for four solid days. That's 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. Three days of keeping the lake at the same temperature. I just added some fresh water and I was good to go. It was well worth the money.

To make hauling everything you need simple, fast, and easy, you'll need a stackable cooler and tackle box system with wheels that interlock or can be stacked on top of one another. In one trip, you'll be able to gather everything you require. You'll have more time to fish and enjoy your trip if you extend your stay.

Unfortunately, after the first time he used it, the pump began to malfunction, and the bait he was keeping in it for early morning fishing died. He's looking into installing alternative pumps so he can keep using them.
