Questions & Answers
It appears to be made up of several thin foam layers. The foam layers were visible in the last one I opened.
It does not have the same level of softness as memory foam. But it isn't stiff in my opinion. Mine serves as a garden kneeler for me, and it is both functional and comfortable.
Yes, it is a type IV throwable device that has been approved by the USCG.
It all depends on what you're going to do with it. If you're going to sit on it, consider the comfort and stability of wearing a seat belt, as the material may be less slip resistant.

"The Coleman Company, Inc. " is the name of the correct Made in the USA, genuine Stearns, fully strapped and sewn model. Cushion,Flotation Blue" can be found at Be like me and buy it twice to get the best deal! br>br>(Pictured is THIS one, which has shoddy partial straps. ).
That is not what is depicted in the image. The floatable does not have tethers sewn across it. They're sewn to the ends and done on the cheap. The blue fabric is flimsy, and the inside feels like a jumble of flimsy layers. My boat will be legal for a upcoming fishing trip thanks to this floatable. However, I will replace it with a floatable that is more durable.
Please keep in mind that these STEARNS cushions are not exactly as they appear in the photo. My chair had flimsy handles that were poorly attached to the seat cushion cover when it arrived. They don't extend the full width of the cushion as shown, so instead of three attachment points for each strap, there's only one (which appears to be prone to breaking or ripping the cover). br>br>The bottom line is that they are a nice color and comfortable to sit on, making them ideal for stadium seating or a backyard picnic. However, I would never use it as a tossable life preserver or for emergency flotation.
The product received and the product listing do not match, according to several customer reviews. I contacted the manufacturer after assuming that there were some knockoffs for sale. They confirmed that the design had been modified. The straps are no longer anchored in three places all the way across the back. Rather, it is the single-parent family that is the focus of attention. anchor version, which appears to be significantly less durable. So they're not knockoffs, but the design doesn't match the listing either. Because Coleman now owns Stearns, it's possible that this was a cost-cutting decision made as part of the transition. Bummer.
Nothing I don't like accomplishes its goal. It's exactly how others have described it. The straps aren't as long as they appear in the picture, but they appear to be strong. The foam cushion appears to have eight thin independent layers, but it is comfortable, particularly given the price.
The item you received is not the same as the one shown in the photo. I bought this for my son to use as a cushion while seated in my kayak, so the fully sewn across straps don't bother me as much, but I wouldn't feel confident that it would hold up to the load if someone was holding one strap and I was pulling the other.
The item in the photo is not the one I got. My straps aren't sewn across like the ones in the picture. They're simply sewn along the cushion's edge. I'm not sure how well they'll stand up to pressure. It floats and complies with the rules of the water. As a result, I'm going to save them. The item description on Amazon needs to be updated.
With the exception of the thickness, these are perfect in every way. That's all I'm looking for. Believe me when I say that these guys are a bunch of jerks. Because my application is a little limited, these might be a little too big. But don't let that deter you from grabbing these pads and pulling the trigger. No, sir, if you have a requirement, you should absolutely purchase these.
