Questions & Answers

How long is it from shoulder to hem?

I don't have this life vest with me to measure, but it's the same length as all other life vests in this size and weight range. My child is four and a half years old, and it fits him perfectly, but as I previously stated, the lengths are all the same, so you must buy according to body weight.

I'm perplexed because the description says 30 to 50 pounds, but the majority of reviews refer to toddlers. I have a 7-year-old who weighs in at 40 pounds. Is this a viable solution?

No way, it's not going to fit. My 4-year-old, 40-pound grandson was supposed to fit in it, but it was far too small. It was returned for a 50-cent refund. It's odd how the rating is incorrect for a size of 70 pounds. I don't recall whether or not the larger one on Amazon was a Stearns. I believe I ordered a different brand for some reason, but it had the leg straps, which I prefer.

Is your child's head going to stay above water if you do this?

Yes. This is a fantastic life vest. The child's head will not go under if it is snug and the strap between the legs is not too slack, and they will be able to easily stay upright in water. My child was terrified of getting his face wet before using this, and he hasn't complained in the past two years.

Is there a handle on the top/neck part of it?

This is not the case.

Swimming and boating are both excellent options
5/5

I did an incredible amount of research on children's life vests. I was worried about them facing down and not being able to roll onto their backs, so I'm glad I decided on these for my four and six-year-olds. Exceptionally soft and quick to dry. They're both petite, weighing in at around 30/35 pounds each with room to grow. It has been two years. br>br> The children are now six and eight years old. These life jackets are still in excellent condition. Looks like it was just bought. You can put them in the washing machine with the rest of your clothes. Allow them to dry naturally. My 8-year-old is beginning to feel the pinch. These vests are definitely tts because he just pushed 50 pounds on the scale.

Toddlers under the age of two should avoid it
4/5

This was a tight fit, even though my son is only 32 pounds! Because of the zipper, I'm concerned that it won't fit him until he's 50 pounds, as it claims. DO NOT GET THIS VEST IF YOUR CHILD CAN'T SWIM OR TURN ON HIS BACK! I couldn't let my son go because he'd dive into the water head first. br>I'm going to get the puddle jumper vest that goes around his arms and chest because I've heard good things about it from other parents who have kids learning to swim.

This isn't a top-notch product
3/5

kiddos with a lot of weight I really like this vest, but if your child has broad shoulders or a large chest, it might not fit past 40 pounds. It zips in the front (under the clips) and we won't be able to close it for much longer because my son is 42 pounds and has a super skinny waist but a barrel chest. It zips in the front (under the clips) and we won't be able to close it for much longer. So, even though it's rated to hold 50 pounds, your 50-pound bag isn't going to fit in it. It's possible that the pounder won't fit in. Aside from that, It's fantastic!.

Our one-year-old is able to wear it! Our 15-month-old is 31 pounds (in the 99th percentile for height and weight), so this is a good fit for her with plenty of room to grow! She appears to be quite at ease in it (as far as a toddler in a life jacket goes), and it isn't too long on her, allowing her to move around
5/5

It should keep her going for a while, but I'm not sure it'll last until she's 50 pounds - It appears to be on the small side; our 4-year-old son weighs 45 pounds and it is too small for him. His life jacket, which starts at 30 pounds, is much more compact.

My daughter developed a bad sore as a result of the strap
3/5

The life jacket itself is nice, but after one day at the pool, the strap that runs between my daughter's legs rubbed a very sore spot on her thigh. It isn't attached in the middle and is off to the side, rubbing against her legs. I'll keep the life jacket because it's still functional without the strap, but I've removed it.

The life jacket is fantastic
5/5

My three-year-old loves it because it fits well and is true to size. It was a perfect fit for him, as he weighs around 38 pounds. My nephew, who is 49 pounds, also wore it and found it to be very comfortable. The child's straps can be adjusted to fit him or her. This is a life jacket I strongly recommend.

Love It! For my daughter, I adore this vest
5/5

It's not as bulky as other vests we've tried, so she doesn't mind wearing it at the beach while she's playing in the sand. It's also very durable and comfortable. My daughter's only complaint was that the strap between her legs bothered her, so we tied it to her waist instead.

This worked well for my two boys because of the quick delivery and excellent product
5/5

This was a great product for my two boys, ages 3 and 5, and it arrived quickly. They enjoyed wearing their vests and made no complaints about how uncomfortable they were. The neoprene is far superior to the cheap bright orange ones, which have a nylon/plastic feel. br>br>Keep in mind that this vest does not automatically flip your child's face out of the water. I would strongly recommend it and would buy it again.
