Since I am a beginner fisherman, I soon realized my multi tool isn't appropriate for fishing (i. e. , line cutting, hook removal, and lead weight adjusting). In truth, the reason I selected this set over dozens of similar products was mainly due to the extra lanyards it came with. I received the package and found the pliers to be pretty well built, light weight, well lubricated and made to last an extremely long time. I wished the line cutter could cut 5/16" lead pulling rope though so that I can bring this tool when I go crab fishing. The lanyard keeps them from slipping out of the boat while you cut line, remove hooks, etc. They are strong and work well for crimping weights and taking hooks out of line. It is cheap to buy the locking part, but the pliers also cost less. While it does what it needs to do, it does not match the pliers for durability. In the case that they went overboard, I got these pliers because I wanted something cheap so I could replace them if they were lost. I'm glad I made the purchase since these pliers are better than I expected. Should these pair end up in the depths of the water, I will order another pair.

Has been ruled within 24 hours. It rusted after a single use of Surf fishing pliers. Once we got home, we noticed they had begun to rust. We won't buy them These pliers are a little heavier than other pliers I had in the past, but you get what you pay for. I found them to be price-friendly, but I would advise you to get what you pay for.

I can't wait to get them in the mail. This is for ice fishing, but now that it is summer I haven't tried them out in the field yet. One of the things I like about them is that they can easily grasp a hook and easily remove it with a twist. In addition to the line cutter option, I like the grooves for split shots and the three carabiner clips for the lanyards. A con (I think) would be the split ring pliers since I use the needle nose pliers to attach hooks on my line but I think I can work around it. The color of the twigs is appealing to me because if they get lost in the snow they'll be easier As of now, I give this product a 5 star rating, but I am eager to try them out myself.
