The Kastking version with the split ring tip is already in my possession. I decided to get another pair for the other side of the boat, and this alternate Kastking affiliate appeared to be worth a shot. The pliers arrived in a nice box and were well packaged. The bungee loop cord is a little thicker than Kastking's, but I don't use it very often. The grip is similar to the Kastking's, if not slightly more tactile, and I was concerned about fitting into the split rings because the tip is larger than the Kastking's. However, the tip fit perfectly in all of my tests with crankbaits and jerkbaits, though I'm sure there will be some smaller split rings that I'll run into down the road. The small lock is a nice feature, but it is very loose and can be easily unlocked simply by handling it. I don't mind it because I usually keep it in the sheath and it fits perfectly without being locked. I attached the sheath to the boat and enjoy having one on each side; it's a good idea to have one on each side because you never know which side you'll land the fish on. Overall, a fantastic value for money product.

Initial Impression, packaging is excellent The fishing pliers holder comes with a strong belt clip that is simple to put on and remove. When your hand is wet, the handles of the Fishing Pliers still have a good grip. The pliers are spring loaded and will open when your grip is relaxed. The pliers also have a good locking rocker switch on the front of one grip that you can use to lock the pliers closed with your finger while working on your fishing gear. Because the tip is made of thick aluminum, it will not bend when attempting to remove a hook. br>br>NEW; br>br>UPDATE; br>br>NEW; b So far, I've used them for four saltwater kayaking adventures and they've held up admirably. Although I am not a hardcore user, they stand up to the abuse that salt water can dish out. The most important thing is to keep them clean and to wash them in fresh water at the end of each day. I even used the crimper to make some Black drum rigs while kayak fishing, and it worked perfectly. The braid cutters work whether the braid is wet or dry. When you don't keep the pliers in the sheath, you can easily store them in the kayak. When I'm out fishing, I keep the pliers in my kayak.

In Central Florida, I went on a long bass fishing trip. After owning a variety of pliers over the years, I can confidently say that these pliers far exceeded my expectations and provided excellent performance. br>br>First and foremost, the fit, finish, and overall feel are all excellent. notch. The first thing I (and my fellow anglers) noticed was how light these were in the hand; when you're fighting a 10-pound bass on the line and need to get a hook out, you don't want a heavy, difficult-to-reach pair of pliers in your hand. These are extremely light, but they are very sturdy when in use. Anodized finishes are rust and stain resistant, as well as smooth and consistent. The grips are rubberized and will not slip even if your hands are wet or cold. The split ring tips work perfectly, and the jaws have a variety of crimping options. I've never owned a pair of locking pliers before, and I was impressed with the feature and how well they worked. The lock made them easy to store and retrieve from the holster that came with them, but it was also quick to unlock when they were ready to use. Because I don't usually carry a separate set of line cutters when fishing, the line cutters are one of the most important features for me. These cutters cut 20lb braid, mono, and fluoro like butter every time. I'm constantly tying leaders, hooks, and various other knots and don't want to be slowed down by the inability to cut the line, so the replaceable cutters on these pliers cut positively every time. br>br>Calamus pliers come with a nice molded sheath/holster that securely holds the pliers, as well as an included c I like how the holster clips on to your pants/shorts/belt; not everyone wears a belt, so the clip will securely hold the pliers no matter what type of pant or short you're wearing. Finally, the customer service is outstanding, and the price is unbeatable. These pliers easily compete with and defeat pliers that cost twice as much. 10x more. These are the pliers you want if you want a great pair of pliers that can handle a wide range of fishing needs at a price that won't break the bank. This book comes highly recommended.

A good set of fishing pliers with a good sheath is extremely difficult to come by. The sheath itself may be adequate, but the attachment mechanism is either ineffective or cheap; for example, the belt clamp on this one is plastic and does not adequately secure the sheath to the belt, so when you remove the pliers, the entire sheath frequently comes with them. Someone should make a great set of pliers with a belt loop style, rugged sheath that fits the pliers, and doesn't have some cheap feature or add-on like the velco straps that sit too low in the sheath and get caught during plier holstering. It's not just about the pliers. br>br>It's about the whole package.
