No, any trim should be fine; I was concerned about that as well, but my husband is 225 pounds and can easily pull ups.
However, if your door frame is not flat or has ornate moldings, I recommend padding your pull-out drawers. Just to protect your door frame from damage, use the up bar (and all contact points). My door frame was not adequately protected by the rubber guard, and the molding and paint were damaged as a result.
agreed. Where most people should be holding the pro, there is no padding. This is a deal breaker because of the design flaw.
We didn't consider the inner door when we bought it. Unfortunately, on our 8, it does not work. The inner door measures 25" in depth. However, it appears to be an excellent product.

I bought it because I thought it would be useful for my 5-year-old daughter. year- A replacement for the old Iron Gym is needed. I didn't use it because I was afraid of it, but just in case. br>br>I bought and assembled the "Pro" model of this product; I had to adjust the connections a few times to get the right fit, with the horizontal bars horizontal to fit my wall thickness and molding thickness, which was fine; a combination of bolt hole options worked for my frame/wall situation. br>br>So I put some weight on it, but I noticed that the right side was sliding down the frame, while the left side was holding firm. When I put my weight on it, the part above the molding flexed in to touch the wall above the molding, while the handle lowered. When you remove the weight, the part above the molding flexes away on one side while the handle returns to its original position. br>br>I double-checked all of the connections, which were all fine, but I noticed that the four "members" were not "square" with one another. I dismantled it to inspect the J-hook. One of the bars was bent more than the other, preventing the entire assembly from fitting squarely and plumbly together. br>br>Obviously, this would not distribute the weight evenly across the door frame, and the frame or the pull-up bar would most likely break. The side with the smaller-sized animals Over and over, the side with the larger-diameter J bar would be taking disproportionate load. Even with the tinfoil (slight exaggeration) "safety clip," the angle J bar would be flopping around. After just a few loading cycles, the flexing back and forth loosens the bolted connections. br>br>I'm returning this item because my 5-year-old daughter is allergic to it. year- The old Iron Gym was built to a higher standard and is safer and more secure. I'm trying to broaden my horizons, so I'm looking for new both a wide and a close grip • Can target triceps by placing bar on ground and doing dipsbr>• Provided safety clip keeps bar from accidentally slipping off top of door frame and causing serious body damagebr>• Fairly easy to assemble and disassemble (after initial assemble)br>br>CONS: • Instruction manual contains unhelpfully small pictures, making assembly process a bit cumbersomebr>• Parts are not labeled, adding to the difficulty of following the instruction guidebr>• Support foam grip pads feel flimsy and thin, and will likely wear out with heavy usagebr>• Rubber side door frame support leaves markings and peeled off some paint from door frame due to pressure of holsterbr> when the bar comes into contact with the straight bar, as other reviewers have noted, even after securely tightening the two allen screws, indicating a poor design that will most likely need to be re-installed. When you're using it a lot, you'll want to tighten it up.
I was afraid it wouldn't work because of the large molding. But it has some holes to adjust for the molding, so I'm happy to lift it!.
It's a breeze to assemble - Only four screws were used, and they were all tightened with the allen wrench that came with the kit. Simply leave enough space on both sides of the doorway for the handles. Added benefit: br>br> If you have a border collie mix, the instructions will be very appealing to him.
I bought it for my son, who was very excited, and we started putting it together. Wow, incredible, the screws that we needed to connect two parts were short!! Can you believe both screws were short and it was a big hassle, so frustrating, my son started nagging because it was his birthday gift and now he couldn't use it, so we went to Lowe's and bought two fit screws to connect everything together, he loved it, but I'll never forget this brand does not have any QC in their product.
