There are no rods in the room. I bought two of these because they are so comfortable. I found that they run true to size, so my XL was too big, so I downsized to a Large. This is not a medical device or a back support device; it is designed to get you sweating and tightening up your core.
An XL would be my choice.
I haven't used it for ab workouts, but I have used it several times for yard work that requires a lot of movement, and I enjoy it. It doesn't make me feel uneasy in the least.
It's not breathable, just like any other neoprene or neoprene-like material. This is what causes the sweating, and it can irritate the skin if used for an extended period of time. I usually wear things like this for two days at a time. Working out for 4 hours at a time, then showering and allowing my skin to "breathe." This has never been a problem for me.

When ordering from China, there is always some trepidation due to the fact that the sizes are smaller than in the United States. However, there was no need to be concerned because this was an excellent match. I'll list the benefits and drawbacks, as well as my final thoughts, as I do with everything I review. PROS: br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> There are many things I like about this sweat vest, but the fact that the length is just right for me as a taller person is by far the most important. Previous products had to be returned because the length was not to my liking. Lifting my arms and having my stomach flop out is the last thing I want to do. Another feature I like is that the shoulder straps are wider than those of other brands I've tried. This makes putting on clothes and doing squats infinitely more comfortable. When wearing a shirt over the vest, the zipper also appears to be low-profile and does not protrude as much. br>br>CONs: Like anything neoprene, it has a stench to it, and no matter how many times you wash it or what you wash it with, the smell will inevitably follow once your body heat rises. This isn't so much a criticism of this product as it is of neoprene in general, but it's worth mentioning nonetheless. The waist trimmer's hook and loop strap was another thing I didn't care for, but it was less of an issue. The loop strap is slightly narrower than the hook strap. As a result, there are loose sides where the hooks should latch onto something but don't. I've unintentionally undone the waist trimmer section on occasion, but it's simple to reattach. br>br>Overall, I like this vest, and it will take the place of my previous running sweat vest in the future.

If there was an extra small size, that would be ideal.
