Is it possible to use this in the open air?

It's made of a very thin foam rubber. Each piece has a very light weight. br>I was expecting a much more substantial product, but I also thought this was too cheap, so I ordered it and am happy to have it indoors, away from the elements, essentially protecting my new carpet from deep gouges from my workout machine; I believe it would not be recommended for use outdoors. I live in Phoenix, Arizona, where the sun consumes and dries out everything. I would choose the heavy duty tough, thick grade for use outside or in the garage.

Is there a pattern on both sides of the item?

No, there is only one side.

What am I supposed to do with all of the extra edge pieces?

no.. rely on the way you've put things together.

Other than black and gray, are there any other colors available?

Right now, Black and Grey are the only colors available.

It also cuts well around posts and other wall changes. I purchased five sets in order to cover a section of my basement. Some sets included a variety of different types of edges that help to smooth out the perimeter. I had extra edge pieces, so I mixed and matched them between the sets.

This mat may look nice, but if you're looking for something with a little more grip, this isn't the mat for you

“Non- During workouts, the skid surface improves grip and prevents slipping," but I'm slipping all over the mats' surface. This severely restricts the types of exercises I can do. Getting rid of them in the hopes of finding a mat with a decent gripping surface.

Excellent flooring for a home gym

These tiles are one of our favorites. They were fun to put together for a seven-year-old. It's a great find because it's soft while still providing support for low-impact workouts.
