) The Trailair Equalizer rubbers had become hard and cracked, and they needed to be replaced. The MORryde Equalizer and Wet Bolt Kit were found to be the best parts to upgrade to, according to research. It took a lot of pounding with a big hammer to get the old suspension parts off, and it took even more finesse and hammer persuasion to get everything back together and aligned. I recently put the suspension through a 3200 mile trip that included several bad state highways as well as some off-road driving, and it passed the torture test with flying colors. This is, in my opinion, the best suspension upgrade that has ever been made.
This was used on a tandem utility trailer that measured 7' x 18'. This MOR/ryde combination is fantastic. There are no plastic bushings on any of the bushings. All of the metal parts are thick and sturdy! The bolts are "wet," which means they have a grease fitting that allows me to grease EVERY moving part. GENIUS. Another advantage is that the suspension system is so quiet that I don't hear a thing when I'm driving over rough terrain. AN AMAZING PRODUCT! In addition, I utilized the MOR/ryde set-up. In addition, a Dexter K7138400 Conversion Kit should be used. As a result, the suspension springs were moved on top of the axles, rather than the axle running "inside" the spring. Because the trailer's body was too close to the ground, the factory "inside the spring" axle setup caused me problems. I had trouble backing up my driveway because the trailer's back end would drag on the ground until the wheels reached the driveway. I got the height I needed by putting the springs on top of the axles, so no more dragging my frame over uneven ground. One thing to keep in mind is that the Dexter K7138400 Conversion Kit recommends tack welding their spring support bracket to your axle. I didn't do it at first because I didn't have access to a welder at the time of the installation. I used the trailer once and double-checked the set-up after the pull; one of the brackets had slipped to one side, which I disassembled and reassembled before welding to my frame. ENSURE THAT THE BRACKET IS SECURELY ATTACHED TO THE AXLES.
I was surprised at how simple they were to set up. Our first trip is approaching, and I'm looking forward to seeing how things go. My old bushings were beginning to show signs of wear, so it was time to replace them. My trailer is a 2013 toy hauler, and these are the exact same size as the old ones, but with extra thick sides and a grease zerk. tranquillity.
The holes in the second piece are aligned with the bolts that were installed. It only took a little Dremel work to put it all together. The grease fittings on the brass sleeves are a nice touch. Plastic bushings and thin shackles will, without a doubt, outlast the original parts.
This upgrade/kit comes highly recommended by me. Bushings and shackles are much thicker than the factory ones. There were some issues with being able to grease the trailer after it was set down on the springs. Once the trailer weight is on the springs, you'll need a grease gun tip in good working order that can do or withstand the high pressure required to grease the bushings. My trailer suspension was also a lot quieter after I installed this. My camper had 6,000 miles on it, and the factory plastic bushings were worn out, down to the metal. Why do they behave in this manner? The bushings are made of plastic. The money spent on this kit was well spent.
I'm glad someone recommended this upgrade after seeing how the bushings looked after only 2 years of light use when I removed them. Customer service and communication are of the highest quality. I damaged/stripped one of the nuts, which was entirely my fault and not the product's, but an email to the manufacturer, Morryde, was promptly answered and a replacement nut and bolt were sent out at no charge; thank you Ryan at MORryde!.
The quality of the wet bolts was excellent. One nut, however, was defective. At less than 50 lb ft, the threads simply lost interest in the bolt. I only had an old nut to work with.
My factory shaker hangers snapped, nearly causing the axle to fall out! It's quite terrifying! These were purchased to replace the cheap, thin ones that came standard with my trailer. This is a well-made and durable kit. It was relatively simple to install, and I now have a quiet and strong suspension.
