What does the large groove in the top serve for? Is it possible to use it to mount the kayak on its side? I'd like to transport two kayaks on top of my vehicle. ?

When my canoe is transported with the seats down in my car, the groove encloses the side rails. This helps to keep the paint on my car in good condition. If you're transporting a kayak on its side, I don't think this is the best option. I'm afraid I'm powerless to help.

Four foam blocks, as well as several straps, are shown in the illustration. Is that what you're going to get? And, if that's not the case, how does Amazon allow them to get away with it?

The straps, to be honest, I have no recollection of. We did get the blocks, but we're still using our old straps. In general, I've found Amazon to be honest and forthright in all of my dealings with them.

The following is a description: In a reusable mesh dunk bag with a cord lock, foam blocks are included. There are four in total. 3 foam blocks with a wide mouth, 20" cambuckled straps with S-hook hook, 3- Straps are 9' long with a sewn loop, and there are two of them. Instructions and an 18' strap with cambuckle Regular is made up of four parts. Foam blocks for the mouth. On Regular, there is a limited supply. Made in the United States of America. br>br>If that's what you get, it's a great deal, but you only get ONE foam block. Don't believe the price because it's too low. It isn't exactly what it appears to be. br>br>At the end of the day, it's just a foam block.

Despite the fact that the description stated "wide mouth," it did not fit on the Subaru Forester cross bars.

Why not include a photo of the item in question? True, I should have read the description more carefully, but I'm pretty sure they posted a picture of the entire set of blocks in the hopes that others would make the same mistake I did. At best, it's stupid; at worst, it's deceptive and manipulative.

foam blocks for canoes Canoe foam blocks fit my grumman 17 ft square back perfectly, and I put it on top of my toyota 4 runner, which has a glass sunroof, so it saved me from having to put a seat cushion on top of the toyota 4 runner to protect the glass sunroof

They appear to be very durable, but only time will tell, and they are less expensive than new sunroof glass.

You never know what you'll get

At this price and based on the other reviews, I figured I'd get one block. As a result, I placed an order for four, which was exactly what I wanted and seemed reasonable. I got a score of 8. That's all I've got to say on the subject. They appear to be good foam blocks for the intended purpose, with only one side having a groove, as shown in the photo.

There were no issues with this product, and it arrived quickly and in good condition. When the canoe is wet, they are quite squeaky on the truck's roof, but that is to be expected.
