Questions & Answers
Yes. Simple to put together.
The pads can be adjusted to raise or lower the kayak by about 2 inches. If it's any help, I'd say 3".
I believe the second pad should be strapped through a back window that rolls down. In theory, you could just strap the back pad to the kayak so it can rest on it but isn't attached to the car, and use the other four straps to secure it.
Without a doubt. Almost any hardtop vehicle can be equipped with this. I have a 2013 Kia Rio hatchback and can easily load and strap down my kayak in less than 10 minutes.

The reviews that are less than five stars are from customers who clearly did not do their homework or lack common sense. I'm new to kayaking and needed a way to transport my kayak on the back of my Chevy Impala. I did my homework and watched a few YouTube videos to learn the fundamentals of hauling my new toy. Although there were no videos available for this particular model of rack, I was able to figure it out using the videos and the clear instructions that came with it. This rack was of excellent quality and value, as it costs $20 more on the Pelican website. I was able to transport my 10-foot, 36-pound trailer with ease. pound kayak in a windy environment an hour away. I didn't go faster than 50 mph and made two inspection stops because I was nervous about hauling it for the first time. I, on the other hand, had no issues. I'll be able to haul my kayak with more confidence now. This product has made my life so much easier!.
The job was made a lot easier with this carrier. The straps provided are far better quality than those I had purchased elsewhere, and they kept my car's roof completely safe and free of damage of any kind. I would strongly suggest it.
This is a good one. I upgraded to this one after my 'yak nearly flew off the car roof with the least expensive foam car carrier. This item is ideal for those who do not have built-in car racks. It builds a car rack, straps the 'yak to it, and then adds trunk and hood t-bars to double the safety. straps around the neck Without the need to purchase a new roof- I now know that my 'yak isn't going anywhere I don't want it to go, thanks to my rack-equipped car! This product is excellent and I am very pleased with it.
The instructions say to always mount the kayak right side up, but my seat flaps in the wind, and I'm afraid I'll lose it. Up to 70 mph, it works perfectly. I'm going to shave the foam with a hot knife to make it fit better. The only thing that worries me is that the metal box channels' ends are a little sharp, so I filed them down a little to prevent them from cutting the straps. For a single trip, this is a great value.
This item fulfills all of my expectations. It appears to be a good fit. Since the car I bought it for died, I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'll definitely give it a shot in the summer and report back. It appears to be simple to use and comprehend.
I used to use J hooks, but this is a lot easier and more secure. You'll be glad you didn't spend $300-$400. There are 400 on the j hook versions available!.
It was simple to install and I drove about 70 miles round trip without it budge. The straps make some noise, but that's a small price to pay for a cheap kayak rack.
Buckles won't even keep the strap in place. If you don't tie the ends together, the buckle will loosen.
